Evening all, I'm a new member with a 1972 Roadster that needs putting together properly. I have started searching here for a few bits of info already-a great resource it is for sure!
Reassembling an 850 Mk3 and came across this bracket in the box of powder coated bits and have got absolutely no idea what it does or where it goes. Parts book does not throw up any clues, nor does the manual.
Well I`ve had some good advice so far from you blokes so here`s a couple of more questions . I`ve got the whole engine in bits now so will be rebuilding after a long awaited holiday in Australia.
After suffering with high oil consumption all summer and all but loosing compression on the left pot I took off the head and barrels on my 1970 Roadster to find the cause, expecting any or all of the standard disasters.
I've got a 2S camshaft to fit into my 850 (RH10Head) - so I presume the fitment would be as a Combat cam. The workshop manual states that fitted length for the Combat outer inlet valve spring is 1.321".
Looking for fuel tank panels for a 1957 19S
looking through the tech books and our suppliers offers there is some confusion as to the threads of the bridge studs , they are either cycle or BSF. logic would say whitworth into the slider and cycle for the nuts , But no . cycle I think.
I discovered this in my old Norton instruction book. It may be of interest to some members. It just shows what an excellent level of service Norton (then in Plumstead Road)provided to owners back in 1964.
Does anyone know what the code or ref for the green paint on 1959 models is??

Hello, just rebuilding a US import that was part complete, and noticed the frame is different from all of the other pictures I have looked at - only noticed this when it came to hanging the silencers!
Does anyone have the contact details for Miles Robinson, director of Works Racing Ltd? From what I can tell, he and Patrick Walker did some lovely work with modern Manx Norton engines a few years back.
Sorry this is not specifically Norton but relates to the Triumph-Greeves which I am close to finishing. It has 12 volt positive earth electrics controlled by a Zener diode and solid state rectifier.

I have a four post ignition switch and have power to the brown/blue on post 1.
I would like to know what posts should be powered in the four key positions.
1. Parking - 1 and ?
2. Off - 1 only
3. Ign only - 1 and ?
I've had my 850 crank re-ground and had them check the conrods for ovality - the worst of the two they tell me is 0.0005" - 0.00225" from nominal.
My 63 650 was orriginally a 6v bike but has been converted to 12v by the previous owner ,it has a frame and clamping angle to fix the battery . What is the battery to fit the space ?
As an aside to the post I made regarding JEC Purnell, the 1946 Manx I'm in the process of becoming the custodian of was apparently raced by Denis Parkinson, though I'm yet to be able to confirm that.

Hi all, I am in the process of rebuilding a Mk3 that I purchased in a dismantled state, something I would not recommend, anyway to cut a long story short the cylinder head that I ended up with needed skimming and the valve seats refacing.
I'm researching the history of a 1946 Manx which it would appear was allocated to J Purnell via Ron Harris of Maidenhead and I'd like to know more about him if anyone has any information.
Hi all, I've a high compression head on my 1972 750 engine and would like to lower the compression for easier starting. The head on the bike at present has H1715 and C stamped on it.
