Indicator problem

Forums

I have fitted direction indicators to my Navigator.  A set of "universal fitting" indicators, I fitted LED's rather than use the filament bulbs.  A 3 pin flasher.  The switch is a combined indicator, horn and high low handlebar mounted unit.

I fitted them, powered up and all was well.

The problem is that when I run the engine the flashing becomes very erratic.  Clearly some interference from somewhere. I'm using Boyer electronic ignition.

Horn issues

Forums

I am a Commando owner since one week now and need to get it past the road test. Just discovered the horn is not working...

I am unsure which button should activate it: the indicator switch is on the right (European model) and the buttons above and below do nothing visual or audible. The headlight flasher is top left and the other switches on the left seem to do nothing.

Electronic Ignition Mix and Match

Forums

Hi, My 69 750 Commando has Electronic Ignition fitted by a previous owner.

It's comprised of a Wassell Stator plate and Rotor but with a Boyer Bransden Mk3 Transistor box. I am still working through some engine issues so no chance to test it thoroughly. It did start and run.

Would you foresee any issues? Can I assume the switching signal to the transistor box is the same from the Wassell unit as from a matching BB Rotor and Stator?

I have a new boxed complete Wassell EI but didn't want to use it unless I needed to.

Thx

1952 Inter wiring questions

Forums

Hi,

I need to re-wire my 1952 Inter but can't find a wiring diagram for it anywhere (not that there's any complication to the circuitry)..  My first question is to ask  if it would have originally been -ve or + ve earth?  And the second is whether they were wired with black-insulated wire throughout or had Norton moved over to colour-coded wires by that time in common with some other manufacturers?

Many thanks in advance.

Nigel

Positive earth indicators?

Forums

Sorry this is not specifically Norton but relates to the Triumph-Greeves which I am close to finishing. It has 12 volt positive earth electrics controlled by a Zener diode and solid state rectifier. I've fitted indicators but am not sure whether 2 pin flasher units - like this one https://www.racing-planet.co.uk/flasher-relay-digital-standard-without-beeper-p-137957-1.html - will work on positive earth. There are 2 terminals marked B and L.

No spark

Forums

I have a four post ignition switch and have power to the brown/blue on post 1.

I would like to know what posts should be powered in the four key positions.

1. Parking - 1 and ?

2. Off - 1 only

3. Ign only - 1 and ?

4. Ign & Lights - 1 and ?

I think the switch is bad and I'm trying to confirm it.

Please help.
