Does anybody have any good information regarding the seats that go with the small slimline tanks on US market Atlas', ES2s, and, (dare i say it) Manxmans etc?
Will someone please kindly let me know whether a split at the front of a Big 4 piston is correct.
A NOCcer has asked me about 2 stampings on his Birmingham (Bracebridge St) built Jubilee engine. He writes:
I came across this Girling application chart. Interestingly it shows that the wideline Inters/Manx's had longer rear shocks than the other wideline models.
Has anyone got an original bike to confirm this longer shock length?
Shock horror I've fitted 30mm Mk II Amals to a Commando engine, not intending to upset the purists who want to keep the world of the Commando as it was back in time.
Hi, can someone please post a photo of the correct Lucas ammeter as fitted to a 1962 Norton model 50, cheers David charlton1996@hotmail.com
How/What are we measuring when we do this?
I have a SLS brake on two bikes and a TLS on another , I am often tinkering and usually manage to keep the efficiency up . However the TLS has had new "superior" linings fitted and will lock up on first application but refuse to do much else.
I blame advancing yerars but cannot remember for the life of me what tyre pressures to run on my 2A Commando!
My ES2 has been leaking oil from the kickstart shaft.
This is the second time i have come across a cylinder head that has one of its combustion chambers machined in the wrong place. The photos show the cylinderhead in question and another head that has them in the correct place.
Could anyone who has done and understands the anti drain mod done to the timing cover re-draw Cosmos's drawing to avoid any confusion - I've searched and I can only find this one and I'm not 100% sure of all of the details. Cheers
Hi guys... My 650SS restoration is progressing apace. I had the bare crankcase and cylinder head from the original matching numbers engine. The other major engine parts are coming from a donor engine that had been "tuned for racing".
Does anybody have a recomendation for a better ignition switch than the one usually fitted to a 2A Commando? In over 40 years of ownership I have probably replaced this switch four or five times, and now I think it's on the blink again.
I'm just checking the camshaft and I see the only marking on it is 'T'. This doesn't correspond to the S, SS and SSS variants in the literature.
My 1954 88 has a fairly bad oil leak from the dynamo clamp stud area. I have replaced the base gasket and cannot see any obvious cause of the leak which is still present.
I have replaced a dud drive box on the 99 back wheel with a NOC one and the chrono speedo now reads very about half speed. Is there a range of these gearboxes, and if so what should I look for?
Does anyone know if ally petrol tanks are affected by ethanol, Please?
Has any one successfully replicated the original crankcase paint?
On the wiring harness p/n 06.6396 there are 4 red wires (see picture) and one seems to go nowhere. I cannot find the other end and need help to know what it is for?
Hi
any one got any advice on removing rust from an old tank and sealing it after?
Apologies if this post has already gone on forum but can't find it - has anyone experience of gearbox rebuild kits available from Andover Norton - all the kits available seem to have gone the way of roller bearing on layshaft - Mick Hemmings thoug
I'm rebuilding my gearbox and at the point of assessing the mainshaft and layshaft.
Does anybody know anything about whether machining the early AMC mainshaft to accept a circlip has ever been "a thing".
If anybody has a Commando mainshaft to hand, and a vernier, even better!
Good afternoon Troops,
Im searching for copies of Roadholder Magazine from 1977 & earlier to complete my collection.
If any members have copies "going begging" I would be most interested.
Thanks in anticipation,

Has anyone fitted a MK3 hydraulic primary chain tensioner in their Pre MK3 cases?
And whilst on the subject of hydraulic tensioners I see that at least two camchain tensioners were developed but can't find any for sale?
