Have re-assembled my '55 laydown box as Mike hemmings excellent DVD sevral times. I can almost now do it with my eye shut! 

All goes well until I fit the outer casing at which pint the gear lever refuses to move.

Canada calling. I have just finished assembling a basket case '53 Model 7. In static mode all gears shift up and down nicely, as they should. But in transit the gearbox shifts from 2nd to 4th, missing 3rd.

I have picked up a fully refurbished monoblock (by Bratby) and am thinking of fitting it to my 99 . The issue is that it’s 1 1/8” bore instead of 1 1/16 , It’s going to fit ok and will be filtered with a decent paper car unit .

Further to my last silencer query will someone please recommend exhaust pipes that will actual fit my Atlas as I have heard several stories from members who say that they have bought exhaust pipes from a very well know supplier and they do not fit

Can anyone please recommend a company that sells Dominator silencers that look like the original Norton ones, I appreciate that the sound unfortunately will not be the same but prefer ones that are not too noisy. Thanks, Ken

I am playing with the idea of fitting an ES2 7 inch con rod to a spare model 19S crankshaft after the flywheels have been ovaled, A`la the 1955 BSA CB-34 Goldstar with its egg shaped flywheels.

What is the correct diameter for a headlamp for a jubilee. My headlamp shell measures 6” diameter, but the replacement reflectors on offer seem to be 61/2 or 7 inch. Any advice would be welcome. 

I have read somewhere that a modification was made to the return fitting in the oil tank during production of the lightweights, a restrictor to encourage oil up to the cylinder?  It carried over to the heavyweights, or the other way around?

I am in the middle of building my 1957 norton up I have put 5 inch raised handle bars on and I can't seem to get a speedo cable to fit can anyone advise me or is it best to put striat bars back on ki d regards Steve hampson

Need a bit of technical advice on an upright gearbox in an ES2..

I have an oil leak which appears to be coming from the selector shaft behind the cam plate at the bottom of the gearbox.

Just had my 1955 Model 30 timed and it seems to be running great.Starts right up . I happen to look into the oil tank when running and seen no evidence of oil returning ( I know it was prior to having the timing done).

I am rebuilding a wd 16h.

Having been pointed towards the excellent Dominator Service Notes, I see a comment that the layshaft 2nd and mainshaft 3rd gears can be swapped "with a little modification" to give a closer ratio box. Can anybody expand on this?

I am looking for a rev counter , of the type that would have been fitted to a works bike in the early 1960's , Would it have been an ATRC ?, and in a vibration proof mount perhaps RN1104 ?. Any pictures?.

I’ve had my 1957 Model 88 for a couple of years. It’s in great condition but has an iron head stamped T2140. I’ve fitted the correct plugs NGKB6HS and it runs well, although perhaps a bit of pinking when opening the throttle hard.

A friend of mine (honest!) has an early 50's ES2 with a laydown g/box. When selecting 4th gear the procedure is:

Pull in clutch; depress gear lever; hold gear lever down; release clutch and it then snicks into gear.

I am having problems fixing / securing the battery in place on a 1960 600cc 99 dominator which has been converted to 12v.

Having watched Mick Hemmings excellent DVD a few times I notice that he fits the thrust washer (A2/328) direct into the the main gear wheel (with the roller bearings).

Anyone suggest a decent stem seal that doesn't go hard in a couple of years please.
