I have a 1971 commando, it looks like someone bolted something to the down tubes (photos attached).
Can this be repaired if so could you recommend anyone to do it?

I thought it might be nice if we got a few pictures of people using their bike for what they were designed and built for.
Well the cats out of the bag now, what do you make of the new Nortons on display .?
I have no doubt this has been mentioned before but looking for the long type tank badges (often referred to as lightweight I think) for my slimline ES2
Mine are badly pitted but can't seem to locate any. Help would be appreciated
Hi,
I'm in a middle of restoration of an M18 .
If the bike is standing for several days, most of the oil leave the oil tank to the bottom of the engine.
As I know, the oil pump was restored.
Found a Twin carb Manifold at Ardingly and couldn`t resist buying it. I fully intended buying and using a new single carb for my 500cc 88 which I might still do but does anyone think a Twin Carb would be a big improvement ?
Does any one know what colour Red was used on the 1975 commandos . Was there a paint code ? Or a close match to a red type .
Evening folks, could someone tell me width and spacing of pinstripes on 500T fuel tank? There are remnants of a poor repaint but tends to look a bit heavy at 1/2" black and 3/16" red with 3/16" space.
Thanks
I just want to say a huge thank you to Peter Holland for his hard work and expertise in producing a superb article on the Electra Electric Starter system which appears in this month's Roadholder magazine.
Has anyone tried to find an alternative to the standard Commando bronze bush arrangement?
Hi
I have used Redditch Shotblasting for my last three restorations. They have always done a brilliant job but I see they are no longer in business - very sad.
A friend of mine (and club member) has recently bought a part finished Mk3 commando project, he's got most of the bike assembled but is having difficulties sorting out the wiring, which is about all thats left to do.
Hi folks,
what is the point of the centre stand on the early rigid framed bikes. What I mean by that is that when in the down position on my 1935 m18 it barely touches the ground and certainly cannot be trusted.
Weird one:
On my racing project, I'm using a Model 50 alternator engine (as that was an engine I could get my hands on). But, I'm going to use an SR1 magneto, as ignition should be period for that racing club.
A question for all with excellent memories of the early 60s. Was the background to the raised letters on the Lightweight Norton tank badges painted and if so was it in the same colour as the tank?
I'm looking to replace my rear master cylinder with a Girling 06-5776.
Am I liable to have any problems setting it up, from what I have researched, they can be difficult?
Good morning all so I've now got an age appropriate 16 H engine Instead of the overhead valve engine.
Can I ask what downpipe exhaust support bracket should be in place?
Hi folks,
I am about to have new guides fitted to my 1935 model 18 head with naked valve springs.
I can't work out or find information on how these are lubricated.
I believe i heard or read this was to be in Italy, but cannot recall the source.
Can anybody confirm the location and date as i am going to need to blank out the dates in my calendar to ensure i keep the date free.
I have just taken ownership of a 1943 WD Royal Enfield 350 OHV from someone I've know for years, just down the road from me. As part of the deal I got 10 litres of 40W oil in sealed containers - it looks like it came from a local farm supplies sh
Hi, I have just bought a 1971 Norton Commando sportster.
Its an American import
The rear tyre size is MT90-16T the wheel and spokes need re-chroming.
Anyone know why the last minutes are from July?
I realise everybody is very busy but shortly we will be in November and personally I feel as a member I would like to know what's going on with the club.

When I took the piston off the Model 50 bottom end (alternator type) that I got for my racing project, I noticed that the conrod would tilt about 3 mm sideways, though no radial play could be f
Hi All,
One of the many special bikes that the late great George Cohen made is being displayed this weekend at the Jolly Bike Shop in Bovey Tracey, Devon to honour the great man.
What kind/brand of reamer would you recommend for me to purchase to ream my small end bush for a 47-500 rod?
US purchase if possible to avoid tariffs as much as possible.
Cheers.
Nate.
