After splitting the crankcases to get to the crankshaft, I didn't notice there wasn't an oil seal on the sprocket side. But now I'm about to put the engine together, it dawned on me I was missing something: said oil seal...

In 1954 Norton welded the subframe to the main frame loops on their 88 models. Were these frames made frame the A or B grade mild steel tubing? Thanks

Hi; struggling to find a Lucas cam ring for a clockwise, single cylinder (NR1 type) magneto.  If anyone has a spare to sell or know of one for sale would appreciate the lead.

I wish to tour with my 1963 Norton 650SS and would like to know if E5 petrol would harm the engine. If so please advise as to an acceptable petrol grade that can easily be found on route.

Hello, I'm stripping the engine to clean the sludge trap before sending off the crank etc for a dynamic balance. Can anyone please confirm what I'm thinking, that the pistons are facing the wrong way, the large cut outs are on the exhaust side.

I visited MCL25 (Motor Cycle Live, NEC Birmingham) yesterday.  The Norton stand was very visible with the new look logo.  Lots of interest in the stand (queues to sit on the display bikes) but also I could detect disappointment in the Atlas models

I have taken the head of my 1935 model 18 in to an engineering firm to have the guides replaced. The new guides are .625 or 5/8 ths.

Although I spent what seemed like a lifetime pouring minute amounts of engine oil into the crank from the tiny hole on the end of the timing side I`m asking how everyone else does it ? Is there a better way ?

I've just replaced the air filter on my mk1 850 with a K&N filter so I've had to relocate the ignition switch that was attached to the old air filter back plate.

On a recent ride I felt the clutch operation getting slowly worse, the leaver was become more and more baggy/floppy and the more I was changing gear the more I could fell the clutch was not disengaging properly to the point it was making me creep

Can anyone confirm what the recommended piston clearance is for an Electra so I can provide the information to the engineer doing the rebore?   I have a set of NOS pistons from the NOC shop marked AE which I presume are Hepolite Powermax.

My dad and I both have 1954 ES2 Nortons but he did all the tinkering with both our bikes so I don't have a lot of knowledge on the ES2 workings.

Hi - I need to replace this cotter pin but cannot find the part number from the spares list.  The drawings don't seem to cover this version of the forks.  I believe the design was changed in 61 and again sometime later.  Grateful for any advice. 

I want to ask details about item number 062323 and 18710 in the spares catalogue, is there someone who can provide some info please? 

I have tightened the sprague clutch nut to 85 lbs feet, (65 recommended by Alton), and it still comes loose at the drop of a hat. Any ideas, anyone, on how to stop this occurring?

Morning all. I've been organising my winter projects for my early 650ss and one of these is to restore the original tank that came with the bike. The tank I'm running at the moment is a cheap Indian item which is useful but not a keeper.

my twin distributor shaft is not located with any circlip so i wonder if i have a spacer missing behind the chain sprocket.

I have a 1971 commando, it looks like someone bolted something to the down tubes (photos attached).

Can this be repaired if so could you recommend anyone to do it?

I thought it might be nice if we got a few pictures of people using their bike for what they were designed and built for.

I have no doubt this has been mentioned before but looking for the long type tank badges (often referred to as lightweight I think) for my slimline ES2

Mine are badly pitted but can't seem to locate any. Help would be appreciated

I'm in a middle of restoration of an M18 .
If the bike is standing for several days, most of the oil leave the oil tank to the bottom of the engine.
As I know, the oil pump was restored.

Found a Twin carb Manifold at Ardingly and couldn`t resist buying it. I fully intended buying and using a new single carb for my 500cc 88 which I might still do but does anyone think a Twin Carb would be a big improvement ?

Does any one know what colour Red was used on the 1975 commandos . Was there a paint code ? Or a close match to a red type .

Evening folks,  could someone tell me width and spacing of pinstripes on 500T fuel tank?  There are remnants of a poor repaint but tends to look a bit heavy at 1/2" black and 3/16" red with 3/16" space.
