19 inch rear tyres

Hi guys
With the take over of Avon tyres by Goodyear, Roadrider tyres in 100/90 × 19" are getting hard to find.

I just questioned the Michelin bot and they confirm that their 100/90 × 19" Michelin Road Classic is front or rear compatible.

Has anyone tried these yet?

Cheers
Paul

Not yet, but their website lists it as a universal in the 19 range and the speed and weight rating is suitable as well.

Good news, I noticed it is Bias construction and that will allow a front X ply or Bias tyre to be used. If you use a Bias on the front then you can run only radial or bias on the rear.

Just went to order some and our distributor says they are front fitment only as per all their documentarian they have from Michelin, I did point out that if I select 19'' on the Michelin website it shows the two tyres with no mention of being front or rear fitment. I have asked Michelin to clarify as their website is misleading, but as yet not heard anything.

just a thinking could it be the tread depth that makes it front only and if willing to take a hit on mileage they will be ok   don s

UK site differs? Also V rated.

I asked..Is the road classic 100/90b19 57V suitable for rear fitment?

The reply was. Yes, the Road Classic 100/90B19 57V is suitable for rear fitment. It is designed for all-season use and retro usage, fitting vehicle types like roadster-road and neo-retro scrambler. For more information, please visit our dedicated page.

I just checked the UK website.
There is the page about the Road Classic, after a lot of scrolling down it is saying "20 sizes available".
There are the fields 17", 18" and 19".
Below it another 3 fields: "Front", "Rear"and "Front & Rear".
I clicked on 19", the field goes blue.
2 tires are listed, the 100/90B19 57V and the 3.25B19 54H.
When I then click on "Front", the field goes blue, and both tires remain listed.
When I click on "Front" again, the field goes blank, both tires remain listed.
When I then click on "Rear", this field goes blue, but now both tires disappear!
Same for "Front and Rear", both tires disappear.
You can do the same exercise for 17" and 18", as a comparison.
In my view, this website choses for a complicated way of providing informatiion.
In the past, tire companies published straightforward brochures, showing all information at a glance, even including tire width, external diameter, preferred rim width, etc. etc.
But we are old men..

Got Michelin Road Classic's fitted on my old CB750 four.

3.25-B19 54H front has a rotation arrow for front fitment only.

Universal Avon Roadriders normally have two rotation arrows for front or rear fitment, not the case with Michelin Road Classic's.

P.S.

just read Ashley's post, confirmed front fitment only as assumed.

On another forum (Access Norton) someone said that they had been told that the latest plan was to make the Avons in Turkey and they would be available early next year.

From Avon themselves, yes, production of the Roadrider will commence in December, the trade announcement does not say where or what sizes, but we believe it will be the more standard sizes like 18'' There is still no news on whetehr they will manufacture the 100/90-19 Universal - I have asked several times and every time get no reply.

I see that there is Heidenau K34 4.00 x 19 64H suitable for front or rear fitment. Not sure if they would be suitable for Commandos though.
