There is a fair amount of variation in the dimensions of the downward-pointing cylinder head studs - part no. 067885 (NM24389) - available from suppliers.
My 99 with its single mono starts well , runs fine and ticks over nicely when warmed up, it does behave strangely for the first few minuits when cold when if exhibits all the symptons of rich running.
The first owner of a 1971 Commando ELP709J is hoping to trace it. He would like to speak to the current owner etc. I am uncertain if he wants to try and buy it incidentally. It is currently on the DVLA computer and is taxed, MOT'dand insured.

I am just trying to piece together the numbers on my Commando.
I noticed in a feature of the October edition of Roadholder barrel-shaped Superblend bearings get a mention.
Does the club still sell those laser cut commando exhaust clamp spanners?I looked at the spares section but could not find them.Any ideas?Thanks - Paul.
My 51 ES2 is missing the right side pillion peg mounting lug; called the "B4/686 Frame pillion footrest lug". See page 69 of the Norton Spare Parts List, bottom of Plate Y.
Like a few here I am sure, my bike sits unused for lengthy periods. Unsurprisingly it starts best with a fully charged battery, so occasionally needs a short charge before use.
Just got my copy of the excellent Roadholder, bit dismayed about the picture on the rear cover stating that the bike is Serge Deret's Seeley Norton.
In fact it is Laurent Delattre's Seeley Yamaha!

On the Access Norton website today I read the sad news that John Robert Bould has been told he has advanced bowl cancer and doctors have told him he has only six months to live.
I note the Roadholder mag is on line today, 01.10.15, once again it cannot be opened, I have spoken to members of the EC via email and in person at the Welsh rally, they assured me a the time this problem would be rectified very soon, as I recall

Refurbing 72 commando. Master cylinder piston is corroded and stuck in the master cylinder assembly. I have oil for several months but the piston will not move.
