Road holder forks

So - besides the nice emulsioned wall are we expected to fill in some details about the forks Tim ?  Here goes, - a pair of long roadholder forks with the fork sliders fitted to the wrong side and one of the fork springs is fitted upside down.  Apart from that they look OK.  Cheers, H

Hi Tim,

As Howard says, long Roadholder legs in short featherbed yokes. Best to do as much research as possible or you could end up with a lot of miss-matched parts. There is always help and advice on this site.

..and measured for length, not possible to say. The photo is not very clear, look like they are chrome plated, in which case probably Commando. But given the whole assembly seems cobbled together, who knows!

Funny, how a started topic without text still came alive.

The posted picture was just me trying to be funny. They're forks I found last year on an autojumble when I'd just started the Surrogate Manx project. And, you're all right in your comments.

This pair of forks spurred a steep learning curve and tought me that Roadholders come in many shapes and sizes. The yokes were allright for the Featherbed, as were the sliders. The stanchions were far too long, but rusted anyway. And there was no internal damping arrangement.

Interesting comment about the springs. Every little bit helps, when it comes to unsprung weight, even putting the closest windings on top.

Anyway, when I bought them, I thought Roadholders were just that, Roadholders. But lots of research and asking on this forum later, I now know better and understand the differences. I've tried to put all the info together, for others not to make the mistake I made.

So, to give this empty topic some use, here's the link.
