I have recently aquired a Norton 16h WD 1940, when I purchased the bike I was told that the speedometer was not working as it is turning in the wrong direction,
Hello, is anyone aware of a slipper clutch for the 961?
Previous old bikes I've owned have had a metal plate which fitted into the rubber knee pad. So when screwed onto the tank there were no gaps around the edge.
Thank you for letting me join without a proper norton yet.
My least favourite 'heavy twin' design feature is the washer behind the intermediate timing gear.
Hi, I have a 650SS 1964 fitted with a 1:1 tacho gear. I have problems with oil leaking through the gear and coming out of the cable. I have tried two different replica gears, with and without sealed bearing, but can't stop oil coming through.
Whilst wandering down the road looking for the gear-lever which had got fed up and fallen off a chap walked up waving the offending item! What's it off he asked - a Norton!
Can anyone shed some light on the noise i am getting from the cam shaft area on my domi 500, its a tick tock type sound when i turn the engine over by hand i have had this checked out by a specialist who said he had not heard this befor here sleav
The Atlas is a vibratory beast and feels too "busy" The easiest way to gear up would seem to be the Engine sprocket as we have to do something about the tired alternator and chain with a tight spot as well..
My 59/60 box can be reluctant to select the next gear and can be stiff to change ,also it will not select Neutral at a stop.
Hi all I've just become the proud owner of a dominator 88 featherbed wide line. i dont know anything about nortons apart some of the history. It seems to be pretty complete but i will have to sort through 3 shed for the rest of the parts.
Hi, Does anyone know if I can fit an o'ring chain to my 1959 Model 50 (featherbed frame) and if so do I have to alter sprockets or chain size?
Thanks
Jak
Having obtained some new old stock Hepolite pistons at +20 I had it rebored to the spec. However when it came to fit pistons the pins had to be drifted out despite heating beyond ânormalâ temps â i.e. rings removed and gas torch to high temp.
After about 10 years I finally have my 1951 ES2 up and running. Complete strip down and rebuilt myself. I took plenty of photos from many angles, but I do not have a photo of how the rear chainguard attaches to the frame near or at the plunger.
The two screws holding the brass plate on the 1937 Inter oil pump cover are wrecked and I need to get them out to get at the pump, which is failing to return adequately.. What size and length are they, and what heads?
Had a good morning and had several, very helpful, conversations regarding cammy singles. No-one seemed to mind as I scrabbled on the floor measuring their stands, either!

Good evening
I have a dollshead gearbox(es2 1939)
The gearpinions are numbered N 8044 13 etc
I replaced a few pinions by NOS.
Are the gear pinions from the laydown gearbox interchangeable?
Hi, Could any one inform me of Norton 650SS production racers which was made. There is one on ebay which is being sold as mentioned. The advert says it is one of three which was made.
I thought the kickstart return spring had snapped on my dominator, but on inspection the 90 Deg. bend on the end had came out of the location hole in the inner case.
Replaced, but soon after same again.
hello i wonder if anyone knows the correct length of the rear brake arm for a 1954 dominator, the one on my bike is 8.5 inch hole centres and did not look correct when i fitted it ,it throws the brake pivot arm directly in line with the rear wheel
It could be my lapttop but I doubt it. Is anyone else stggling to read the on-lin version. It doesn't really matter as I prefer hard copy.
Hi there can anyone give me some ideas on where I can source these items for my bike. A number of suppliers have the bolts but cant find a banjo anywhere?
Thanks
When I had my rotary [magnificent and would not stop accelerating!] I bought a workshop manual. I have a dirty photocopy and still have the original. This is dated 1984.
Is it just me or can you not reply to messages on an android phone? I have a new Sony experia.

The rotor arm is a loose fit on the shaft ,I believe there should be some sort of retaining spring close to the cam ,does anyone know what should be there? anyone have a spare dissy to look at? Thanks
Not a good evening. I had my K2F refurbished at the same time as the mag for my 16H just 2 years ago.The 16H works perfectly, but this spring I fitted the K2F back onto the Dommie and retired the RITA.But now I'm back to hot mag failure.
Looking to buy a Roadster tank from the NOC shop for my '75 bike. Has any, who has bought one,got any feedback about the quality and do they fit correctly. How much, if any, fettling needs to be done. These are made in TaiwanI believe.
