Petrol tanks

Does anybody have any experience of buying petrol tanks from the many indian suppliers even with the high carriage costs they are much cheaper than here

Hello yes I have a wideline one from a 1954 dominator is good thick steel good welding the only thing that spoils it is the tank is not right at the front and is tight fitting you have to watch for a british made one

I have purchased 2 Indian made tanks from different suppliers. 1 with panel for a 1950 Red Hunter with innacurate paint lines poor welding and poor lug locations That supplier is no longer trading or changed name! However the one for my 1955 88 was very good from "Pommey" via ebay. Chrome was good and welding excellent. Heavy guage steel. Dimensions were available from the supplier and will build to yours if required. It was unpainted. The fit is fine but of course is by strap. Original would always be best but to rechrome can be dearer than the one I bought.

I'm in Hampshire if you want to inspect the tank.

Regards, Roger

Pommey has recieved good reviews for several BSA tanks on the Britbike forum. Not seen a bad one for him yet on any forum.
