Faulty Smiths Speedo
I have the original Smiths Speedo on my 1974 Commando & it has stopped working. Prior to totally packing up the needle would just intermittently move up a little. I have visually checked the cable etc but they seem ok.

Can someone who has successfully done this post a step by step instruction on how to do it. Alsowith the brand names of the sealant used.

I need to remove the driving plate on the magneto of my 1949 /ES2 as the stud has decided to detached itself. There appears to be 2 woodruff keys locking it and then I assume that the plate then can be unscrewed.

I have owned my Commando 37 years and as I wanted to enter the Bikers Classic meet at Spa this year I have done a nut and bolt re-build on it.
On my 38 ES2 I have a postwar battery carrier off a I don't know what and a replica Lucas box to hide my modern battery. I think it looks ok, however I would be more happy with the original type setup.

They seem to have what I am looking for for my Dommie 88 (exhausts, silencers and rear shock absorbers) - but I don't want to join the guys who are hacked off with "shoddy" after market spares.
I am restoring a September of 1971 Commando, i have done the MKIII isolasticconversion, i have done the front mountmachiningwhich seems to fit fine, but the rear does not fit between the frame lugs. Do i need to machine the rear mount?
Should there be a sludge trap in my 1956 19S crank? I can't see one.
Hi. Just purchased some stainless pipes from armours i have stainless reverse cone silencers from rgm to fit but not sure on the pipes regarding length ? Do they push quite away in to the silencers ?

I have a Fair Spares belt drive on my MkII 850. It is 8 years old and has done 7500 miles. I have the primary off at the moment and wonder if I should replace the belt as a matter of routine.
Is there any engineering reason not to swap the fork legs round on my Mk3 to have the brake caliper on the timing side behind the fork leg ?

I'm just about to refurbish my cylinder head and have the options of phosphor bronze or cast iron valve guides. I fitted bronze guides when it was the trendy racing mod about 28 years ago and then cast iron subsequently.

Hi, Can anybody tell me the reason why the front fork width changed from 7" to 7 3/8", I am building a cafe racer and have both size sets but not sure of the benefits apart from the obvious ability to have a wider tyre.

Hi I'm a new member and have just purchased a 1968 commando.
I am just about to change the magneto chain on my 1949 ES2 as there is excessive wear and it also appears to be too wide as there is a great deal of sideways play on the teeth.
