Hi, Can anybody tell me the reason why the front fork width changed from 7" to 7 3/8", I am building a cafe racer and have both size sets but not sure of the benefits apart from the obvious ability to have a wider tyre.

It was changed so that the top yoke could have a steering lock fitted. If you look at both of the top yokes you will see one has a hole, near the centre to take this steering lock,and the other one does not. Thewider yokes could also take a bigger front tyre.
