Surely sellinga V5C and the Vin plate offthe frame is totally illegal? This could be used on a stolen bike. I would think the person selling this and the person buying it would be traceable by the police and DVLA.

Isee that my Mercury concentric carb throat is a 32mm unit. In the miniscule amount of data I have for the bike I see the throat should be a 30mm. The 650ss appears to have two 30mm carbs.

I have just taken my fatherscommandoand removed the outer gearbox cover to reseal thekick startshaft, and upon reassembly i can go through the gears until i reach 4th then it locks in 4th, i have the bike on its center stand so i may spin the whee

Just finished getting my "new" (to me) 850 ES Commando tidied up and about to take it out today, when I saw that the ignition light wasn't going out with revs. It had been OK a few days before.

Since there seems to be nothing secret, on confidential, under this heading, why the need to "log-on"? John.

While removing gearbox one of the top mounting lugs sheared off i dont know if it was ready to go or my mechanical skills or lack of that caused this.

Could I ask someone with an early 1950sModel 50 to measure the overall length of the pushrod tubes? These are the full length tubes extending up to the rocker box.

Has anybody any historical evidence to favour a particular sealant to use between crankcases? I think I last used a silicon based sealant, probably Hermatite instant gasket.

I am restoring a 1938 ES2 and am at the engine rebuild stage, although on dismantlingI marked the cam wheels and pinion, during the cleanup stage these marks dissaperared!

What is amacceptableamount of side play when assembling 750 commando conrods.

Hi All, Quick question. Do I set my air screw and hence idle speed with ignition fully retarded or at the midway point which is recommended for starting ? Amal 76. Can't seem to find a definitive answer.
