Inlet valves sticking
Whilst deciding on what sealant to use on my 71, I thought I would reset the tappets as I have just re-torqued the head after fitting a new copper gasket.

My 1972 Combat sat in the garage for about 9 months without so much as a second look from me (I know, tragic). Anyway, last weekend I dusted her down, drained the oil from the sump etc and she fired up fourth kick.
Hi all
Can someone tell me the height off the ground to the end of the pea shooter silencer under side
As both of mine are different.
1972 fastback
Thanks

I have my 71 Norton engine back in the frame and am about to start replacing covers. Most of these have waxed paper gaskets; when rebuilding car engines I used to smear these with Hematite red or hylomar blue gasket sealant.
What finally happened, Richard ? Is 'een dikke proficiat' called for ?
Evening all,
Forgive me if this has been previously discussed:
I'm a new member and since I'm not from the UK my membership does not give me access to the Roadhoder Magizine/Newsletter.
I find that the chain case on my Dominator 99 is filling with oil after a hard run and leaks when I stop until I drain off the excess. I gather from the site the crankshaft oil seal is a known problem with the model.
No sooner have I got one thing sorted then ...
My ES2 has recently developed a valve lifter "issue" and not having much experience of such matters I am somewhat perplexed.
i visit other forums and this is the only one with so many problems that dont get fixed its a sham, what do we pay for?
Greetings all!
So I finally have my 961 and it's lovely (well to look at, I haven't started it up yet!) Don't wish to pull attention until I'm good and ready for it!
I'm looking for a pair of original Norton Model 7 silencer and exhaust pipe. Can anyone help me on this? sorry I've choosed this section since I'm getting too many spam messages after advertised in classified section.
Regards,
Hi Guys

Does anybody know what bearing clearances I need for cambox and main bearings in my inter engine? Most bearings are available in standard or C3.
Please can someone identify the headlamp I have attached . I think it is off a 650SS, and I think a 1964. Am I right on both counts?
Thanks Mick
I'm starting to prepare to get a 1936 16H back on the road.
I need to replace the harness on my dynamo 99, and wonder if anyone has sourced a good replacement loom. I want it to remain as original as possible. Tom.
I advertised in classified wanted section for a pair of dominator crankcases. Instead of getting crankcases, I'm receiving many spam messages!! This people are so cunning and always looking for thier preys in any means.
So when I bought my '48 ES2 it came with a somewhat cannibalised "spare" engine (B4 13709).Anybody got a spares book for a '47? I'm interested in knowing if I can use some of the parts in my '48.
Hi Folks.
Anybody had any experiance with the new Hepolite pistons made by JC in Tiawan. I'm sure they will be fine but just because they have Hepolite on whats the quality like?
Cheers Tony
Evening all,
My ES2 is missing it's Dyno. Thankfully the Mag is present. I've been told that having the numbers off the number plate of a Dyno will help in finding a suitable replacement.
Where can I buy these, or what are the general dimensions?
hi all
can anybody tell me what .manx specification, would mean and what parts would have been different on a1936 350 40 international.as the word manx didnt get used on nortons until 1945-6 ,i think.

Hi
Could anybody let me know whether:
I am after the adjustable chain oiler as shown in the picture here. I will probably block it right off and spray the chain as I normally would on my other bike.
This posting was raised to see if anyone had a good pic of the gearbox adjuster. I have started to make my own version of this as I have had to make new bolts/studs.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a chrome B2/406 gear change lever for my 1949 ES2 ?
TIA
Ian
I have just completed a 700 mile tour of Eire on my 1947 Model 18 and much to my relief, nothing untowards went wrong with the bike other than an electrical charging problem just before we boarded the ferry to sail back to the UK.
