Is there any engineering reason not to swap the fork legs round on my Mk3 to have the brake caliper on the timing side behind the fork leg ? I've seen it a few times, and apart from sorting the mudguard stays out it looks to be a straight swap out.

Hi David,
Purely cosmetic, I would prefer the caliper behind the fork leg just for looks. See you in Spain ?

Norton's story was that swapping the brake over cured a tendency to pull to one side which had been exacerbated by the right hand rear disc on the Mk3. However, they did the opposite on the parent company's T160 Trident, so who knows ?
There is no mechanical obstacle to swapping back and the Mk3 circlip bearing retainer will tolerate the change.

I hope this gets through, Sam i changed my fork legs around on my mk3, very straight forward, sliders have two lugs to attach the mudguard stays to. (1977 interstate).
I done away with all the horrible plumbing, and replaced it with one piecebraided hose from venhills, Iwouldn't worry too much about the bike pulling to one side,if your brakes are anything like mine (original lockheed)you'll be holding the bars for grim death anyway. also had to reversetyre rotation,I believe its a MOT failure if you don't.

Thanks for replies. Steve,…
Thanks for replies.
Steve, it's good to hear from someone who has done the job. I only mentioned the stay as my bike has an RGM big disc conversion with the adaptor plate, but I'll just make a rear stay to suit, allready changed to a goodridge hose.
cheers

Yes, I believe that you will have to correct the wheel offset.
