Dear All,
I went to replace the carb connector hoses on a recently acquired Mk2A. After the usual struggle I found that the only way I could get them to fit was to reverse the carb adaptor sleeves so that the flange was closer to the airbox. I then measured the position of the airbox in the frame and found that it is approximately 5 mm further away from the engine than it is on my other Mk2A.
Looking at the airbox and the top mounting bracket it looks like the airbox is correctly located in the frame and can't move any further forward. Has anyone else come across this situation on their bikes?
Regards to all
Rick

You are quite right…
Thank you Graham. The top bracket is indeed bolted on to the wrong side of the frame bracket!

And good luck with that!
Graham is right about the flange being in front of the frame plate, using the thick spacer. Best of luck relocating your air box, as there is minimal 'wriggle room' to get the flange on top of the air box to pass under the frame plate. My own theory is that Norton actually built the frame around the air box on the production line!

The MK2A airbox top bracket…
The MK2A airbox top bracket is bolted in position on the actaul airbox itself so easy to undo and put in front of the gusset plate using a 1/4 spacer. On the MK3 the top bracket is riveted in position on the airbox, and some MK3 had the airbox installed with the bracket behind the gusset plate. In this case you need to remove a lot to get it out as the airbox will not come past the gusset plate with the bracket riveted in place.

Rick not sure which is the correct position for the top bracket, but on my mk3 the top bracket is on the front side of the frame bracket with a thick spacer in between.
