There must be at least one Concours judge here so I'd like to know what their thoughts are on "modernising" 1950s bikes. I intend to go concours with my Dommie, even if I don't take it to shows.

I'm new to a Commando 850 ES...which has had it's ES workings removed. No wonder the starter didn't work! I've now got all the bits to recreate the ES inc a new super-duper starter. two questions though:
I happened to notice yesterday that my Commando battery (just over 12 months old - isn't it always the way?) was not only flat, but virtually dry, apart from a single cell.

I have a pre-war inter with the rear set footrests on it. The footrest currently gets in the way of the kickstart that came on the bike.
Does anyone have a 1946 Model 18 clutch case or know where I could get one?
My recently rebuilt Commando smokes heavily on the right cylinder upon start up. This clears after a short while. The bores were on plus 20 and not worn. I glazebusted the bores and fitted new rings.
Hi,
My friend bought a 1959 Dominator 600 in England 2 months ago, this bike has been completely restored by the seller, now after 120 miles running, there was a great noise in the engine and a lack of power.
