Just bought my first Commando, an eight year old Norvil 850. Very impressed with how smooth and comfortable it is but have found that at 60mph-plus it is easily provoked into rapid weaving that's hard to stop!

What fasteners are correct for fixing the front mudguard to the bridge (Centre) stay on a Roadholder forked Norton, particularly an Electra?
when refitting the s/arm i have a 5mm gap between the offside gusset plate which allows the s/a to float! the cleyflex bearings are in tight with the correct spacer between, they protude 3 and 7 mm out from each end, how do you centre the s/a?
Having just painstakingly rebuilt a Commando gear box, and checked that it all worked correctly on the bench, i am baffled as to whyI have trouble when itsattached to a running engine ??

Mycurrent Model 7 is the first Dominator that has had a dynamo, rather than an alternator.
Question:
Is it possible, in normal practice, to remove the dynamo WITHOUT removing the timing case?

Make sure you press the spindle bearing circlip firmly home in its groove otherwise it`ll pop out while you`re riding and you`ll think the brakes shoesare at fault for catching against theinner edge of the drum.
I fitted valve stem lash caps and one of them split its top off when the engine was running!. I also fitted mushroom type tapppet adjusters and I snapped one when tightening the lock nut.

Does anyone have one of these dies to clean up the threads of the steering head tube for the post where the top yoke is held in place? Not sure I explained that too well. Try the top of the centre post of the lower fork yoke.
I am trying to "wake up' a combat that has not ben run in 30 years. I have attended to all the maintenance issues. the bike has only 6000 miles and i do not wish to tear down the motor, it seems to be in good shape. problem is starting it.
Jackie Moore was Norton's Chief Engineer from1937 into the 1950's. He designed the Roadholder forks. These werefirstfitted to a Sidevalve 500ccNorton twin. Nowin a 16H Frame, this machine is in Sammy Millers Motorcycle Museum.

Hi i have bought a jubilee in a million pieces, i have started with a quick build to see what is missing, can anyone please help me with the following.
Should i have just one piece of a rear mudguard, and should there be any stays.

Having just had an MOT failure on my Mk III due to lack of noise when horn button was depressed, I set about trying to establish it's location. Half an hour later and with the help of various manuals I spied part of the outlet trumpet.
