Just started to strip my 1970 fastback after 25 years and 45,000miles since the last rebuild. I found a couple of things of interest.
Can anyone help with the oil capacity for long Roadholder forks as fitted to my 1950 ES 2 ? My 1950 shop manual reprint lists the capacity as being 1/4 pint.
Anybody know of a well made solid state/digital flasher unit that can be accomodated neatly on a Mk3 Commando?

Hi all, has anyone tried the Thorspark ignition system? If so, how good is it? The mag on my '54 Dominator is suspect, and, to have it reconditioned would be time consuming, and expensive.
Is it possible to remove the head and barrel as a unit? I'd prefer to fiddle reseating the pushods on the bench then stick the lot back in together, or am I just being lazy? Barrels are coming off for repainting either way, thanks Paul.

With massively excessive end float (30thou) I need to shim out. With engine now stripped and spilt which end do I shim? The timing side bearing has a LOT of in/out play. Do I shim this side? If so which side of the bearing do I shim?

I have an Optimate charger that I use on my modern Honda. I have connected a spare connector to the battery on my newly acquiredCommando. When I put the battery on charge the Optimate LED readout suggests the battery is taking maximum charge.
