Relief valve leak

Forums

My Commando 750 oil pressure relief valve leaks. It looks to be getting past the cap threads. I annealed some new thicker copper washers thinking the cap might be topping out on the valves thread and not compressing the thinner standard washer. Is this a known problem before I try thread tape or thread sealant?

Had the same problem with mine, kept thinking it was the rocker feed banjo bolt though.

Turned out to be the relief valve dome cap threads topping out.
It was a stainless steel one I had fitted, re-fitted the original and all was good.

Thanks Gordon, I've been out with a magnet and mine is an original steel item. I'll try a bit thread tape first, then probably buying a replacement.

I fitted a SRM relief valve and the leak stopped and it also fixed another problem. Apart from the leak I noticed an occasional flicker from the low pressure warning light, even at higher revs, which prompted me to take action. I suspected (hoped) that the old valve was jamming open, possibly due to distortion of me heaving things up tight.
