Hi everybody,

Can anyone confirm the material that Norton used for covering saddles in the 1920s and early 1930s? I am assuming it was some form of leatherette. When did the hard rubber seats come in?

I have an Optimate charger that I use on my modern Honda. I have connected a spare connector to the battery on my newly acquiredCommando. When I put the battery on charge the Optimate LED readout suggests the battery is taking maximum charge.

Has anyone tried introducing a spray of water/methanol into their carburettor intake? This was widely used in piston engined aircraft (at least in the R.A.F.) to boost power on take-off.

I'm just starting to strip and rebuild my Commando and was looking for views on finishing for the frame. The last time, it was powder coated (25 years ago) but the cost of coating seems to have risen considerably.

While my head is off and stuck in UK Customs purgatory I thought that I would time my ignition as it is a very opportune time to do it.

Can anyone give me an idea on how to get my Model 50 head out of customs purgatory?

I sent the head to Mike Pemberton but the UK Customs thinks that I am selling it to him and are wanting GBP196.86 for import fees!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone tried the Indian made petrol tanks and or mudguards for the Dommis? I want to order one but am wary about quality.

I recently did a "head job" (no obscene comments please!) on my '54 Dommy 88. After a brisk run, I checked the plugs (NGK B6 HS). The r/h plug was a healthy light brown colour, but the l/h light grey.

Hi Chaps - my Norton Commando is supposed to run on Champion N7Y plugs but I've fitted NGK BP7ES as an equivalent - it's proving a bugger to start (old fuel doesn't help either).
