I'm reassembling my electra and need some advice on the timing marks. I have 2 punchmarks on both the inlet and exhaust cam which line up with the 2 sets of double punch marks on the idler gear.
In the parts listing for 1961/62 Models ES2, 50, 88, 99, 650, $ DeLuxe there is an air filter shown for "All Singles" Part number 18684
Ian Loram is pushing for a maximum show from 961 Commandos at the Devon Norton Day/Festival/Party. What's the chance of Rotaries outnumbering the 961's ? Richard Negus thinks there are less than 250 Rotaries left on the road.
I have 1966 Norton Jubilee 250. I think I have the right front wheel spindle, but nothing else. I have nothing to go by so if anyone knows what spacers nuts ect. that I need I would appreciate any help or advice
Hello I have a 71 roadster with early domiator forks,I am rebuilding forks (complete bike) it may sound a stupid question ,I am putting forks back together .
Well this year the 100 years since the Curly N was paint on the side of a Norton tank and Now world famous, and to say it was designed by a Female Ethel Norton , James Landown Norton's Daughter , and she helped out with testing her father work b
I am thinking of installing an oil filter onto my model 19 rigid. Has anybody else put one on?, if so what kit, where did you locate it, and presumably it's in the return line to the tank, but before or after the rocker take off point?
Lest I be accused of hijacking Peter's mail on oil filters - has anyone fitted an air filter to a side valve Norton?
About 10 Brits crossed the water for the The Netherlands Norton Owners 40th anniversary rally, and what a brilliant time we had.
it was fun and friendly from beginning to end
Morning All
My Sport is now over the 1300 mile mark and I'm noticing an improvement in the engine and gearbox as the miles mount.
What are others experiences as the miles stack up?
Hello once again
Like Lee in hisprevious post, I would like to share here one nice experience with my 961 CafÃ? Racer and am just posting my last blog before my NOC-membership will expire.
On behalf of the Essex branch Iâd like to thank all of Norfolk branch for putting on such a good Norton National Rally, with a special thank you to Lena for organising the weather. We all had a great time.
My project seems to be going far slower than I planned, - Dont they always - I'm still waiting for my barrels to be rebored and machined (so a left can be used as a right), but I'm hopeful that I'll get them back next week.
My ES2 has just over 1000 miles on it since the rebuild and the engine is settling down nicely but it doesn't seem to want to pulltoo well in top gear. Can anyone confirm what size sprockets I should have?
I've been taking up the stretch in the new rear-drive chain on my 1951 ES 2 but guessing at what is the correct tension.
Hi,
I have a cradle frame with a batch number 596XX which by my understanding is for 1935.
I thought the cradle frame was used for the ES2 which is a model "4"
Re my 1951 ES 2 "laydown" gearbox; I use Hypoid gear oil, SAE85W90 in the gearboxes of all my vintage bikes which seems to do the trick nicely.
A low-tech but frustrating problem: I am struggling to fit a new twistgrip rubber. It's the correct size of 1 inch diameter, bought from the NOC. Yes, there is a hole in the end to let the air out and I have warmed it to make it flexible.
The pressed steel chain case (1957 mod 99) is notoriously difficult to get oil tight. Or so i am told.
Can the primary drive be run dry & the chain lubricated as you would the final drive?
Here I have a Norton rigid frame stub axle. I'm not sure why but when I align the rear sprocket with the tombstone gearbox sprocket in a WD frame (Its a Bitsa) I have to shorten the stock spacer on the opposite side of hub to get it to align.
This morning I began assembling parts for a new motor. I had a crankshaft that appeared to be in good order but I wanted to check it anyway. The journals are stock grind and unscored. the stroke is standard big twin.
Hello there,
This is a question for the concours buffs.
Hi all, at the risk of starting a riot, could someone tell me whether advance is tight or slack on the handlebar lever, for a manual KF2 on a Dommi.
Thanks,Mel.
Evening,
I am getting ready to order an exhaust pipe and silencer for my '48 ES2. Mine were missing when I took posession of the bike.
Can anyone speak to the quality of exhaust pipes and silencers from Amour's?
How long do my fellow members think it takes for delivery from ordering?
There was a Domiracer at Jack's Hill Cafe Bike Night last Friday. It's good to see these bikes are being ridden rather than being on display in someone's collection.
Here are a few photos of our recent trip to Gran Canaria from our home on Lanzarote aboard our Norton Commando where we arranged to meet up with Club de Motocicletas Clasicas y Antiguas (Classic and Antique Motorcycle Club) of Gran Canaria.
