How long do my fellow members think it takes for delivery from ordering?

A friend has ordered rercently and he was told around 6 months but I understand depending on model it could be less. Also there are some dealers in the UK now and they are offering bike on much shorter delivery or they may have stock. I have had my 916 Sport for well over 3 years now but I had to wait 15 months(not a pleasant experience especially as I was told delivery 6 months). However things have improved significantly since then, back in late 2009 when the engines were built off site.

Thanks for the reply John,

I ordered a cafe racer on Saturday from one of the new dealers and the wait is still 6 months.

When I ordered my 961 Sport last year I was told that Norton's policy was to maintain a 6 month waiting list. It appears that they are still using this policy.

I don't think waiting time is regulated by a policy, that would suggest that people could be kept waiting unnecessarily just to maintain the policy. It is supply and demand that sets the waiting time.

It's good to see that orders are being dealt with fairly and ordering through a dealer isn't a "shortcut".

The impression I got was that 6 months was being quoted to new customers with the expectation that this would be 'Do-able'. Thereby alowing Norton to possibly deliver the bike a little earlier than this under normal circumstances.

Calling it 'policy' is perhaps a little strong but it does appear that Sean and the team are using the 6 months as a reliable guide for people placing orders - All of which seems to be perfectly reasonable and an understandable move given issues with the delivery of earlier machines. laugh

Agreed Lee, much better to quote 6 months and deliver in 5 than to quote 5 months and deliver in 6.
