My 1957 ES2 magneto ignition and 6v +ve earth electrics witha Lucas Dynamo. However, the wiring diagram I have is for an ES2 with Coil ignition and an Alternator.

Hi all

Could someone give me some advice regarding the maximum possible air gap between the stator and rotor.I recently replaced the stator and set it up with a plastic shimming around the rotor ,008" thick all seemed fine.

Distributor springs 18D1?

Hi regarding an earlier post by me, (tick over slow to settle down)I am having difficulty obtaining a new set of springs for my 18D1 distributor,could anyone advise possible source.I have got some (part no 068046), but they are a little (2mm ish)

Ignition timing

Several opinions have suggested setting the ignition timing to 28' btdc, due to the lower octane rating of modern fuels. What are the effects of retarding the timing on the engine? Ie can retarded timing do any damage?

Head bolt size?

Hi. I am sure this has come up before but need help in finding not only the whitworth head bolt size but wondering if there is a tool that fits the recessed head bolts fitted at the front of the head on a 72 750 commando.

Heavy clutch, solutions?

My '72 Commando 750 suffers from a very heavy clutch. Sorry if this a problem dealt with before but can anyone suggest things to do to lighten it? Cable alignment within the gearbox cover is ok. The cam is a new one. Help! Just snapped cable....

Wrong timing cover?

As you may know, I bought my Atlas engine a piece at a time at various swap meets. Well, the timing cover is off an unknown model but where the rocker oil feed is normally, there is a bolt (not a banjo bolt) so it is plugged.

Laydown gearbox

Does anyone know which model a laydown gearbox with the marking GT100 was meant for?

I was intending to use it in a swinging arm model 7 project, but now realise there are severalvariants.

Hope I got lucky.
