My 1957 ES2 magneto ignition and 6v +ve earth electrics witha Lucas Dynamo. However, the wiring diagram I have is for an ES2 with Coil ignition and an Alternator.
I am replacing the cylinder head on on my 1962 norton domi 600ss,should I use copper slip on the head studs.

Could someone give me some advice regarding the maximum possible air gap between the stator and rotor.I recently replaced the stator and set it up with a plastic shimming around the rotor ,008" thick all seemed fine.
I am planning to mill out an exhaust port on a 750 head to weld in a fresh thread.
I have read up on many old posts to try and find an answer, but to no avail.
Hi, I've acquired a basket case comprising a '57 Model 77 frame and a '58 Dominator 600 motor, and I'm hoping somene can tell me which screw threads were used, before I make the wrong assumptions....

Just removed my front wheel to fit a new tyre ready for Germany in two weeks time and found the bonded on friction material has come away, only hanging on by about 20%.
I have a 500T and cannot get the right parts to drive the speedometer. I believe its the same as a ridgid ES2 speedo drive 2.1 ratio? Its such a simple thing but getting the right bits is crazy.
hello, i m trying to assemble a more original rear section for my bolt up 88 using a repro swing arm [manx type] and a mix of pre 55 rear q.d.
Several opinions have suggested setting the ignition timing to 28' btdc, due to the lower octane rating of modern fuels. What are the effects of retarding the timing on the engine? Ie can retarded timing do any damage?
My 60 99 feels a bit rough on the overun and under light throttle, my suspects are, tight chain, alternator rotor touching the stator,chain touching alt housing, what have i missed?.

Hi. I have a 72 750 commando and because i am shorter than the average commando rider i opted for 18" wheels. Now the height is fine but my speedo is out. It runs approx 10mph too fast.
My '72 Commando 750 suffers from a very heavy clutch. Sorry if this a problem dealt with before but can anyone suggest things to do to lighten it? Cable alignment within the gearbox cover is ok. The cam is a new one. Help! Just snapped cable....
I've just had the Jubilee barrels rebored, but on ftting them with the rings they are very tight, so I checked the ring gap which is 0.15mm.

I am tempted to buy one of the "made in India" wideline tanks. They seem like a bargain. I have spoken to many people who dislike them on principle. This is not useful at all in deciding.
As you may know, I bought my Atlas engine a piece at a time at various swap meets. Well, the timing cover is off an unknown model but where the rocker oil feed is normally, there is a bolt (not a banjo bolt) so it is plugged.

I have just bought a new gearbox sprocket ( 19 teeth) to replace one on a gearbox for a 650SS.Described as "New old stock" genuine parts.
It's finally time to buy a head gasket for the Atlas. I notice that the NOC spares shop does not supply solid copper. Is this because they are no longer considered the best?

Does anyone know which model a laydown gearbox with the marking GT100 was meant for?
I was intending to use it in a swinging arm model 7 project, but now realise there are severalvariants.
Hope I got lucky.
Just changing the clutch pads and am sure that the washer should have a felt seal behind if I remember correctly and has a lip seal in centre.
