I am tempted to buy one of the "made in India" wideline tanks. They seem like a bargain. I have spoken to many people who dislike them on principle. This is not useful at all in deciding.

As you may know, I bought my Atlas engine a piece at a time at various swap meets. Well, the timing cover is off an unknown model but where the rocker oil feed is normally, there is a bolt (not a banjo bolt) so it is plugged.

I have just bought a new gearbox sprocket ( 19 teeth) to replace one on a gearbox for a 650SS.Described as "New old stock" genuine parts.

It's finally time to buy a head gasket for the Atlas. I notice that the NOC spares shop does not supply solid copper. Is this because they are no longer considered the best?

Does anyone know which model a laydown gearbox with the marking GT100 was meant for?

I was intending to use it in a swinging arm model 7 project, but now realise there are severalvariants.

Just changing the clutch pads and am sure that the washer should have a felt seal behind if I remember correctly and has a lip seal in centre.

Went to the ES2 this morning to find a large puddle of oil under the bike. It appears to be coming from the lower breather so I assume it is wet sumping.

I've just taken delivery of a second hand cylinder head and if you can spare a minute or twoI'd like you to have a look and comment to see if it's suitable for use.

could someone tell me what size the head bolts are on a 850 Mk3 Commando, as I want to make sure I have the right tools to do the job before I start stripping the bike down? I live in Lanzarote so may have to send for the correct tools.

On rebound over a big bump the front suspension returns with a clang.

Could this be a) not enough oil in the fork legs

b) wrong oil or knackered oil.

c) something wrong with the rebound mech.

Good afternoon to all, I have a 850MK3 with clear engine and frame numbers (stamped in frame). When the bike was restored in 94 the vim place was replaced but not sure it was done correctly.

Ive never really understood why I dont see more off road competition Nortons, but it was good to see this one ripping up the track on Sunday!

I have enclosed some pictures of the issue, I bought the exhaust from armours and they repaired it in the first week.

Norton have appointed 3 dealers including Thor Motorcycles in Bodmin on the Devon Cornwall border.being on holiday in the area I called in to have a look. The showroom is large and modern with 4 new Nortons on the showroom floor.

On the Norton Web site this week I noticed that they were advertising that they were having "bike nights" at Donnington Hall and the first event is this coming Thursday.

I recently had a commando stolen from a lock-up garage (along with several other bikes and a ton of bike and car parts. The whole place was cleared out).

i am on with the clutch on a basket case rebuild and notice on the parts list i have that the clutch has a clutch plate cover a2/396, i do not have one. is it just to stop the oil entering the clutch? is it a strenthener?

I have a 1960 99 dominator, previousley owned by my father. I have recently rebuilt it but have two questions regards the timing.

I have a 1956 99 rolling chassis, almost complete. The engine I have found is out of an Atlas. My question is, should I modify the front engine mounts on the frame to look more like the Atlas frame?

Hello I have the older gearbox in my jubilee, I have used loctite on the lay shaft bush, seeing as the engine is stripped I thought now is a good time to pin it as well, do the later gearboxes pin the bush from the inside or the outside.

Both bikes have matching frame/engine # the most complete one I believe to be a high rider 1972 the partial a 1971 missing trany chain case not much left but a frame, engine was hatched, cases not split and only one conecting rod.

I have posted an advert in the classified section under exchanges but would like to draw attention to it here as it's relevant to pre Featherbed single owners.

I've stripped the gearbox from my 1936 model 18 as It requires a repair to the bottom pivot and also it jumps out of 3rd gear.

My apologies for yet another Laydown gearbox question but any help is much appreciated...I'm building a Dommieracer from the basis of a '54 88 which we have bought in 'kit' form.

I've taken the head and barrel off of my '51 ES2 to sort out the leakiy head joint and discovered problems with both valves.

Under 'Heavy Twins' there's currently a note relating how rumour has it that balancing practices and AMC were perhaps not very satisfactory.Someone on a Norton site wrote rude remarks about inadequate balancing a couple of years back.
