This morning I began assembling parts for a new motor. I had a crankshaft that appeared to be in good order but I wanted to check it anyway. The journals are stock grind and unscored. the stroke is standard big twin. Every crank I have worked on before had six bolts of 5/16 size and a dowel pin of 1/2 inch to line everything up. This crank has 3/8 bolts in the six holes and the dowel hole is 7/16 with a shouldered bolt 7/16 to fit the hole but reduced to 3/8 and using nuts instead of the usual metal plate holding the dowel pin. Has anyone any knowledge of this arrangement and what model it is from?

Bacon describes the 'lengthened dowel threaded and studs changed so one nut fits all' as being for 1975. (Norton twins restoration)
