I do not own a 961 just a Rotary and a 650 SS, on FB today there was some typically negative comments concerning the new Norton's (Atlas etc) from one who admitted to not owning or riding a Norton and another who is a sales person for a well know
The DVLA require my newly re-built 1965 Jubilee to have an inspection by SGS before assigning an age-related registration number (the bike had no paperwork when I bought it and was in bits).

I was missing the inspection cover on the right-hand side of the gearbox so decided to make one it's very non-standard but I like it.
I plan to black the engraving and the screws in the photo are temporary.
On the back of my Navigator enginenear the chain sprocket, there is a hole that I think is a crankcase breather, there was a 3/8 brass bolt with a hole up its centre ramed in the hole.
I fitted a new extended nut to my Model 88 under the left exhaust port. As it began to tighten, the thread stripped. The stud has pulled from the head. That means the head has to come off for a helicoil.
This bike has adopted me to be its caretaker for the next few decades (I hope). My plans are to get it into excellent running condition and enjoy it until a new caretaker is needed.
I Have a 1972 commando interstate the engine and frame are mid 204000 range.
Hi all,
Any experience of running a Lithium battery?
I see at the back of OBM an advert by Powerlite for 5 Ah and 9 Ah batteries - anyone fitted one?
Found these in one of the boxes and they are obviously end caps for springs but can anyone tell me exactly where they should go? Many thanks Ron.

Can anybody shed any light on why some OEM Slimline petrol tanks have the filler on the nearside (left) and some on the offside (right)?
Also I have one with provision for two petrol taps (although one has not been used).

Can anyone confirm what the correct arrangement should be with regards the attachment of the knuckle and ratchet plate on the selector mechanism in a Laydown gearbox.
Bike is 1959 Dominator '99' - history largely a mystery ! I found it impossible to set valve clearances directly due to poor condition of adjusters and lock nuts. The replacements at 13/16" in length, supplied by RGM, are too short.

I ride a 1957 !9S (pre featherbed), I am currently running with Maxxis tyres front and rear which leave me with no confidence in damp/wet (just dumped me on my a**e on a damp roundabout, bent the footrest and pride hurt).

Dear Members,
I found John Oldridge's (Yorkshire Branch) tip about the missing centre stand pivot bolt on featherbed Nortons (Roadholder 371 November) extremely useful.
While rummaging through one of my baskets I came upon a hardback copy of: NORTON MOTOR CYCLES. By E.M. Franks. I had been looking for guidance on the laydown gearbox strip down and there it was, a step by step guide to stripping and servicing.
