Valve clearance question
My 88SS has the book valve clearances - 6 thou inlet, 8 thou exhaust. It is very 'clattery'! The 'standard' 88 clearances are 3 thou and 5 thou respectively.

Hi All,
I have been asked a question by a member that I cannot come up with a definitive answer for.
Can someone tell me the spring length for the Long Roadholder fork please.
The stock Commando battery is 14A/h The question is, why does it have to be that large if I don't have electric start? I have a three phase alternator and Boyer power box, Boyer ignition.
Can anyone tell me if i can replace the driveside cranshaft oil seal with the crank in situ. I am running a belt drive and the seal is allowing oil into the primary, fortunately i have caught it before oil got on to the belt.
Hi all,

Thanks,

What's the correct combination for a Mk IIA Interstate 1974, any ideas?
Answers on a postcard......
Hi everyone. If you have your Roadholder 293 you will note the advert on page 6.
On the application form it asks for Month and Year for Commandos only. Mine has lost its VIN plate but the number is stamped (albeit in reverse) where the VIN plate was.
Does anyone know of a source, or better yet have a set, for the lifting handles on a lightweight, from the shock mounting point to the rear mudguard?I have been looking a while, haven't seen any.
Does anyone know where I can find parts to repair a Smiths speedometer drive? The one I want to use (see picture) has had some trauma commmittted on it by the previous owner.
Can any one tell me which way the flats on the rocker spindles should face on a 1965 750cc Atlas ?
IN towards the head or OUT
to the rocker covers ?

Having completed the winter overhaul and the fitting of a new (old) timing cover I wanted to make sure that the oil pressure relief valve was working correctly, testing it with compressed air although a guide to operation was not satisfactory, rat
Hello to all Well it looks like you now have too wear Hi-vis cloths when you ride in France. So The EU is getting is way . Next is Us lot ! some Police forces are stopping bikers that do not wear hi-vis jackets .
Just started to strip my 1970 fastback after 25 years and 45,000miles since the last rebuild. I found a couple of things of interest.
Can anyone help with the oil capacity for long Roadholder forks as fitted to my 1950 ES 2 ? My 1950 shop manual reprint lists the capacity as being 1/4 pint.
Anybody know of a well made solid state/digital flasher unit that can be accomodated neatly on a Mk3 Commando?
Cheers, Simon.

Today, I made a number of telephone calls to the UK, specifically to the UK Border Agency and to the Parcel Force. For about 20 minutes I was referred from one to the other and back again.
Hi all, has anyone tried the Thorspark ignition system? If so, how good is it? The mag on my '54 Dominator is suspect, and, to have it reconditioned would be time consuming, and expensive.
Is it possible to remove the head and barrel as a unit? I'd prefer to fiddle reseating the pushods on the bench then stick the lot back in together, or am I just being lazy? Barrels are coming off for repainting either way, thanks Paul.
Hi all,
Here's a good one for you! After three years of hunting I have found an authentic 1955 Model 7 Manual (code 14119/54) the giveaway being it features the Monoblock carburettor introduced that year.
I have a 56 Dominator 99 which I am attempting to get back on the road, I purchased a belt drive kit from Norvil which I have fitted according to the instructions, however when as suggested I manually trun the engine over the belt runs off
Despite Steve Colemans thread 'Buyer beware' apparently 'hidden', unless one uses the search site facility,I hope Chriswill leave this message as is.
