19s-front prop stand in '58?

Forums

Hi all,

can anyone say for sure if a 1958 model 19s would have a front prop stand, or standard fender stays?

Thanks,

Hi Skip,

My 1958 19s has a lower fender stay that is also a front prop stand if that is what you are referring to.

While it does work, I'm not sure I'd want to rely on it solely if removing the front wheel is the reason for using it.

If the 19s you are referring to is the one you Emailed me about, I don't know if import models came with a front prop stand or if it was a U.K. market item.

Albert

Hi Skip- Roy Bacon's book "Norton Singles OHV & SV 1931-1966" has a small illustration on page 45 of a 1958 Model 19 and it appears to have a front prop stand- if you like send me your e-mail address and I will try to scan it and send it to you although I don't know how well it will come out as it is a rather small picture- you can reach me at toolboxlbi53@comcast.net- hope this helps-Richard

Thanks guys,

A friend just bought one & is restoring it. He was told in '58 there were seperate stays, no prop stand. I thought if it has the single downtube frame it should have the front prop stand, featherbed models had the 2 stays?

MY Roy Bacon booh, Norton singles 1927-1966 seems to be set up differently, I do have a pic of the '58 model 50, & '57 19s, both w/prop stand.
