Were the rods chromed or painted black or something else?

The front end of my Big4 rod looks as if it had been chromed?

Just wondering if there are many members from London/the south east planning on attending the Rally? I am considering it, but it is a long old drive to Skipton.

I am new to the whole Norton single's thing (sounds like a dating club!) but I have fancied building an old style Norton race bike for a while now. But I am just a poor working man,so an Inter or Manx is way out of my league.

i am looking for some advice my norton commando 1974 with the spark plugs out i can turn the engine with the kickstart but with plugs in it does not catch inside the gearbox the spline on the shaft and kickstart is good

Please does anyone know if my Norton ES2 Tank would have been painted or chromed its very close because of nickel at the time.Date of purchase; 31st August 1951 (left factory) Engine & Frame No 40483.

I have seen that these are quite distinctive and longer than the standard ones. Ken McIntosh lists them as 1935-1954 so it would appear I should have them on mine (a 1935 model). Paul Norman lists them but has them down as out of stock.

As I have never been to the Manx, I have decided that my re - built 850 should take me and the missus there in Aug.

£41 for the International rally for two nights camping and rally fee seems a bit steep. (that's before I've eaten or drunk anything) Is this a way for a branch to swell it's bank balance? Maybe the EC could authorise a subsidy.

Checking for valve problems, I have checked the compreesion on both cylinders of my 750 Mk4 1972. Carbs are off. Rt hand read 130psi and right one 120psi. Are these readings acceptable on a cold engine?

I was delighted to discover that my newly acquired Commando has electronic ignition fitted. The guy I bought it from didn't think it had so I didn't check.

a friend with a '71 commando that he recently purchased, came with a rear wheel that was the earlier type with no cush drive & the 3 sleeve nuts. Now the bike was semi assembled & the wheel itself was notinstalledon the bike.

Just acquired my first Norton - 1972 Interpol (with Interstate looks now). Was running fine (except some backfiring when cold) on Saturday when viewed prior to purchase. Long trailer journey home.

850 Mk2A -The manual states that when changing engine oil there will be a small amount left in the sump. So, roughly how much is a small amount?

I have a 1956 19S which was puling a sidecar. I am now running it solo. It presently has a 19 tooth gearbox sprocket and a 19 tooth engine sprocket. Should I change to a 20 or 21 tooth engine sprocket? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I bought a 1960 99 to restore and decided to start it to get an idea of what didn't work or might need doing before stripping. It started fairly easily and there were no nasty noises.

Hi, I am restoring a 1959 model 99 and wanted to know if the wheels had the single butted spoke or used the straight type of spoke. I have various wheels to fit featherbed bikes and there are both types in use.

Has anyone a list of torque figure to use when rebuilding an 1954 ES2 Engine, mine is an alloy head, and any must change bits when re-building the engine?

Hi, I am wondering if the new Dunlops with the TT100 grip pattern are as good as a more modren tread pattern? I have a 750 Commando and she is on 30 year old tyres, that's the last time she has seen the outside .

Hi one and all, i have a 750 commando head ,which i was told it was a combat head .It does have a c stamped between the exhaust covers and the head surface is well machined (high compression).

any body know the paint code for thin red pin stripe on tank.

Has anyone fitted a 961 Cafe Racer Flyscreen to a 961 sport, it looks like it should fit OK but have not seen a Sport with a screen fitted. If not is there a suitable screen available to fit the Sport?
