850 Mk.lll colour scheme
I own a 1977 850 mk111 Roadster,this was bought by me 1979.At that point in time it had the JPN colour scheme,white tank with red & blue stripe.Was this a standard colour for that year?

I have recently purchased two new valves for my 1955 ES2, part number V37 on the owners club site and also on RGM motors site.
Have imported bike into UK and need to MOT and Register same,
Not sure if indicators were fitted to the machine! Any idea when they
became legal requirement?

850 MK2a Commando which will empty itâs oil tank into the sump over night, cold engine & 20/50 oil, everything apparently in perfect condition.

Hello everyone, I am posting this message to find out how my father would go about sourcing a registration plate for his 1953 Norton Model 7, this has matching engine and frame numbers, but no log book or old tax discs.
I have rebuilt the primary, including the clutch, which never worked. It did slip and drag!

Any ideas as to what a good color match is to paint the crankcases, bevel housings and Cambox. There are traces of silver grey on a few parts but its hard to determine a color with what little is left?

I'm going to strip the long roadholders on my ES2 in the not to distant future. I suspect I may want to fit new bushes and will certainly fit new oil seals. Are these parts interchangeable between the long and short roadholders?

Does anyone know what is correct for the 1952 ES2 clutch plates. What I have in mine is friction plates with inside lugs and plain plates with outside lugs.
Hi, I live in the southwest of England, I have a 750 Commando engine that needs a rebuild (mostly re-assembly) as it is in boxes. From what I can see its complete but it will most likelyrequire some new parts.

Having picked up my SE (in Black) yesterday from the factory I took the oportunity of buying the "proper" workshop manual and can reccomend any 961 Owners to do likewise.
Adjusting the rear drive chain and noticed when unloaded tension is set to 1 1/2" the bottom of the top chain run is just level with the chain guard lower edge rear of the front mounting bracket. Was this designed in or coincidence?
I was asked a while ago which were hot and cold 18mm spark plugs. I found this chart on the Rudge site. It doesn't include NGK but most other plug makes are there. Hopefully this should help sort out what's right for a Big 4 as opposed to a CS1.

I have a MK2a Commando with a single Mikuni VM34 Carb. I am getting 45mpg riding it like a nun, is this right? I also own a Yamaha XJR1300, 4 carbs, bags of power and i ride it like i stole it, i get 50mpg.
Can anyone recommend a "guaranteed" proofer/liner for guarding against ethanol damage to my original Roadster fibreglass tank?
I have trawled through an number of messages on main bearings on this site.
Most seem to be advocating one type or another, and mostly aimed at twins. However none help me so hopefully someone else can.
I am in the process of fitting a 1958 ES2 engine to my 1936 Model 18, as the original engine is in need of significant work and I just happened to have the newer engine available to me.
My Amal monobloc carb is knackered and I have been advised to replace it with a Concentric model. Has anyone else any experience of this and would you recommend?
