Hi Chris,

as no-one else has jumped in, I will at least say that I have seen the E28 on the exhaust cam of an alternator 350, with J28 on the inlet, presuming that they are the wide cogs, with the cam opposite side to the mag drive (inlet, obviously), I would guess that set 1 are alternator ES2, as the inlet cams were listed as different part Nos.on the ES2/Mod.50 1959-63.

The other set might be earlier Mod.18/ES2, if again wide cogs/opposite they would be between 1947 and 58, narrow cog/same side pre 1947 ohv.

In the absence of more authoratitive information, that would be my best guess.

Cheers,

Niall
