Folding kickstart lever for Mk.lll

Forums

Hello All

I,m wanting to make myself some rearsets to fit my MK3 and I do not like the look of the brake pedal that curls over the top of the kick start lever (al the marchant and dice rearsets sold years ago) To that end does anybody have a damaged/bent kickstart lever that has still got good splines that i could buy and then adapt to make a folding lever assembly? I have seen the Terry Weedy items on his website and I want to make one myself. I will be resiting/replacing the brake master cylinder to a neater, more compact location. The alternative to this is to remove the kickstart altogether as I have not used the kickstart to start the engine at all this year (3500 miles this year so far) But this will be tempting fate knowing me!

On a different subject has anyone got a damaged MK3 primary drive cover that I could buy? This is for a different project. Holed/wornaway/cracked is okay just as long as the bolt face is still okay.

regards

Hi Peter,

I have fitted a Norman Hyde rearset kit to my Mk111, which is one of the few available, and regret to say its better but not perfect. He suggests having the standard kickstart sitting under the footrest, but that gives you hardly any swing at all. So, I looked around and bought a folding one from RGM. Its very simular to a T160 one, folds at the base and looks lovely. Roger was very helpful and let me have it on a fit or return basis. Fortunately it fitted . Have a look or give him a bell.

Cheers

I started making rearsets for my mk 3, I was going to use a folding brake lever. In the end I changed back to left hand brake.
