I am just starting to rebuild a 1947 Norton that has long roadholders.
I want to assemble the half width drum with a new rim and spokes.
I would appreciate to have some help with regard to specifications to build the wheel properly without too much trial and error.
Hi. After much cleaning, tweaking, popping and swearing I am considering fitting a single Mikuni to my MK111. I have one fitted to my 750 and it startsand runs fine with little or no maintenance.
Been trying to decide what to buy, 750 or 850.Have done some research but it all seems a bit of a mine field to choose. As well as this could I ask what model and year should I go for.Realiability is more important than speed.Thanks.Nick.
Could I please ask what is the correct Mag' for my 1935 ES2. Many Thanks.Nick.
Perhaps the moderator can assist with this. As I understand it from the factory there are some 1000 961's registered. Presumably most are in the UK. If so how many UK/European 961 owners are NOC members on this forum.
There was a strange message posted this morning regarding a racing Norton in Australia with a huge amount of spares which was to be sold.
The message does not appear any more. Was it a scam?
my father inlaw raced on the pro circuit in Australia and won many trophies. he is now 90 and has cancer I am trying to put the featherbed he raced with back together.

Hi, I'm checking the internals of my 1939 40M dolls head gearbox, and I found the right set of (narrow) close ratio gears but wonder whether the shell is period.
961 owners will know the seat padding is somewhat 'minimalist'.
I recently had Les of Saddlecraft Seating, (01914 556262) make me up a new seat.
Just joined up and got an email containing:NOC site details, my username, password (18 digit random generated high security), The details of the transaction.
Re assembling a 1961 de lux navigator and I was wondering what the two top bolt holes on the headstock are for.
I am currently restoring a 73 Commando 750 Roadster One lobe on the camshaft is worn on an angle and the lifter is rounded as well.
Me again. In removing the lower bolt from the gearbox I see that there is a gap between the gearbox and the frame and a further gap between the frame and the detente position of the primary chain-case inner portion. Is this normal?
A friend of mine brought some headlight brackets to show me, cast aluminium, with the oval Roadholder badge on the upper part rather than below the forward protrusion of the steel examples.
Who knows which model they are from?
Has anybody looked into these regulator rectifiers as fitted to Polaris snowmobiles? They apparently control the output of DC by controlling the input of AC rather than shorting out over-producing coils.
I am building a MkII Commando 850 engine into a wide line featherbed frame and have had a central oil tank made to hold the vital liquid.
I purchased a Commando MK3 1975 (in Bits) The engine had been dismantled as one of the con rods had bent. The crankcases have
Just a note to thank Dave the records officer for his rapid response to a question relating to the history of my machine.
I am continually impressed by this club.
I am well on with rebuilding, what I thought was a very complete and original 650SS!
The very hooked gearbox sprocket needs replacing, but I noticed upon checkingthat it has 19T but the parts book says 16T (040010)
My parts list for 1955 shows on plate JX item no. 65 the "gearbox bottom bolt and nut" given as part no A2/312.That is for a solid frame. It does not show anything on plate JY - the swinging arm version.
I've had this rotating magnet magneto sat in a drawer for the last 30 something years and I'm thinking of using it for my latest Atlas based project.
Hi
I am hoping that with all the experience in this club that I will get some help and advice on this one. Here is the background.
I need to replace the axle that the rear brake lever pivots on. Can they be replaced, I can't see a nut on the back of the frame. Is it screwed in?
Happy New Year to all! Now what I'm after is a new improved method of draining the oil. One that does notinvariably end with a disgusting mess ,to me ,to the bike and the immediate environment.
