Just currently fully restoring a Combat engined roadster and need some advice on options. The engine is in good condition and Superblends had already been fitted - using the original ss cam and standard compression ratio.

I have two wideline tanks, one (Tank A) which has the embedded nuts for the chrome sidepanels and one (Tank B) which has only embedded nuts for the badge and should be chromed and painted.
Has anybody got any ideas about converting the Commando to negative earth? I have recently bought a HID headlight and the wiring for it is obviously designed for -ve earth.

As part of my ongoing Commando restoration I am now tackling the engine, which needs alot of workdoing to it. One job I have been trying to resolve is the cylinder head which is a complete mess.
I amplanning to renew some seals in my 73 gearbox this weekend. I'm taking thegearbox out to do swinging arm/ cradle stuff. I think I have a leak form the sleeve gear bearing seal and I know I have a leak from spindle/quadrant.
Is it preferable to use a hosting service such as Photobucket ? If so, then it would be useful to have a preview or save facility in order to leave the page and load a second image.

Chatting to an alledged expert dealer earlier last year, I asked why he insisted that owners of newly built Commandos must use SAE40 grade engine oil, else the dealers warranty would be invalid.

SRF 62 L was a black Interstate model with the infamous 'combat' engine. (Yes, it blew up after 5,000 miles!).
