Has anybody looked into these regulator rectifiers as fitted to Polaris snowmobiles? They apparently control the output of DC by controlling the input of AC rather than shorting out over-producing coils. There has been some discussion on the accessnorton forum and they seem to be better for the longevity of your alternator and output.

Read the same thread, getting the genuine ones looked pricy to me, as my 3 phase alternator is 30 years old and still working well I am passing for the moment. I have gone all led on the lighting in last 9 months and that is working well.
