Have you read the information etc on the "Records" site yet ? Also there is some good stuff about DVLA procedures in Roadholder Mag this month. You'll probably need some sort of MoT type test to show it's roadworthy and V55 to get a V5. There are other forms if you want to reclaim original registration number if it's not on DVLA data base. Procedure should be straightforward if numbers on frame and engine are the same as in logbook - but it's a minefield. Dave Catton will provide copy of build records data so you should e-mail him after you've read about your options....Good Luck , Howard

Do not underestimate the DVLA's ability to come up with new requirements and also inability of their staff to understand their own regulations ;)

Hi Ian,

The more information you can provide the more chance of success so the first thing is to trace where it went from the factory and see if that local authority kept their records.

These records can be extremely poor as there was no standard for what they had to keep. This means that some have reg number/make/model/vin/engine/date and who had it. Others can be just the reg and little else! The worst surviving record relating to one of mine just has the reg and who had it. Lucky I didn't need to recover it!

Good luck!

Jim
