Dolls head gearbox age

Forums

Hi, I'm checking the internals of my 1939 40M dolls head gearbox, and I found the right set of (narrow) close ratio gears but wonder whether the shell is period. I suspect it has been exchanged somewhere in time: the ratio's stamped on the shell are of a standard model 18, "H8001" would mean post war if I'm well informed. The serial number is SN7747. With which production year does this number correspond? Just for my information.

I will try to source a 1939 shell but can anybody inform we between which numbers the serial identification number should be situated in that year of production?
