Im just looking to gauge what the reaction would be to organising a meet up next month. I am not looking for exclusively 961 owners but Nortons in general. (Some 961 owners would be nice).
Whilst refitting the primary chaincase cover after a test run on my '55 ES2 I had cause to remove the battery (can't remember why!).The battery is a 6V 4.5Ah gel unit which is housed inside a dummy Lucas case which is much larger than the battery.
I notice in the members bike pics that several machines have the Model and year on the front number plate. Is this for Exhibitions only or is ir road legal? If a front plate is no longer required does it follow that you can have anything on it?
A long shot but just wondering if anyone in the club now owns the above model 50.
I last saw this 1959 wideline model in 1977 when I part exchanged it at ER (eddie)williams, mold. He gave me a generous £200.
I would be interested in hearing from any members who have attended this classic event and their views on it in general. I know that its not exclusively Norton but even my untrained eye noted a few.
Did the early alternator twins do what AMC did with AJS/Matchless and use dynamo crankshafts with adaptors to take the lucas rotor?
I wonder also whether dynamo crankcases were used up on thew early alternator models?
I see that the NOC shop stocks Regina and Elite chains. One is twice the price of the other. What are the views on these two makes? Many thanks for any comments.George

Is it just me being unreasonable , or is it a bit cheeky when the camp site ask for a deposit, OF THE FULL AMOUNT , four months before the event ??
I was searching around for technical information and read that the Late "John Hudson" had written some very informative articles regarding the Dominator engine with particular regard to oil pumps, supposedly there is even a video he put together a
Hi all,
I've seen some 961s and Dominators with an opaque greyscale flying Union Jack painted on the rear cowling (I think it's called a 'cowling').
Does anyone know where I can get this done (in the UK) on my 'bike?
I ordered a half link for the final drive chain (5/8" x 1/4") for my '55 ES2 from RGM. It arrived promptly the following day.
came across this clip, cracking brake skimming technique but not sure it meets health and safety today.hope the cut and paste works as its the first time I have tried this but good technical info and histo
Hi, it seems I have a very small leak in my fuel tank, it takes a while to come through but overnight there's evidence of weeping. I've taken it off but cannot see any holes. Seems to be in the area of the front left fixing.
While I am aware that Paul Dunstall is no longer connected with motorcycles I am looking to try and contact him to approach him about potentially giving a speech about his past Norton exploits.
Does anyone know the quantity of oil expected to collect in the crankcases of a 650ss? My engine has been burning oil.
My 55 ES2 has been fitted with a later distributor type timing case with 3 mounting screws. This suits me as I have made a blanking plate to enable it to seal against a modified MO1L mag (Dynamo gears and casing removed ..
Hello.I have recently purchased a 51 model 18. After wanting a rigid framed norton for years.
Carrying on from my last report, I refitted my (Paul Fox serviced) K2F Magneto, set my timing (30FA-btdc-5FR-btdc on R & L) sealed and oiled, fired up and had to swap the plug leads over (Doh).
I just purchased a 1990 Kawasaki Ninja 600r Front Brake Caliper and Master Cylinder including all hoses and the fluid manifold. All components are in great condition and at a bargain price of $65 USD from my local MC salvage yard.
Iâve been unable to find any info in the workshop manual for the torque setting for the front wheel spindle nut for my 1972 750 commando.
Beware; "The Spiral of Silence" may be prevalent.

I am fixing a notchy change into first, the rest of the gears were working ok. The box is in situ in the frame. On getting the cluster out I find that mainshaft second and third dogs are also worn but selectors and camplate seem fine.
Can somebody recommend a supplier of the correct shapeModel 7 silencers tosuit the 1949-1952 plunger twins.
Thanks,

found this tank in my garage, must have been in there for 20 years. Could anybody please help me to identify which model of Norton it belongs to? It's fibreglass structure. Thanks
