Number plate 'NOR70N' and 3 Nortons for sale

Hi all,

This is not an advert and I have no connection with the people selling this number but I thought this would be of interest to the Norton populous.

The other day, I was telling (probably boring) a work colleague about my love of Nortons. A few days later he came in with a scrap of paper saying a lady in the office is selling this plate 'NOR70N' on behalf of her Mum. The plate belonged to her late father Phil BUCK (Stoke area) and now it must be sold together with his collection of Nortons to provide retirement funds for his widow. I guessed a lot of money would be involved but contacted the daughter and later the son to have a chat about the collection. I asked how much they wanted for the plate and they told me £25,000. It's a bit rich for me but I suppose it is the ultimate Norton registration number. The son went on to tell me about the small collection of bikes his late father owned. There was an AJS, a Triumph, and about three Nortons. He confessed not knowing much about bikes but had notes that were written by his father which had model numbers and approximate values. He went on to say that the three Nortons his late father owned would be put in the Bonhams sale next spring but his family may be open to offers before hand. The bikes in question are a 1924 16H in unrestored condition and two restored model 18 machines from 1926 and 1928 respectively.

From my brief conversation with the family, they seem lovely genuine people so if anyone has any interest, I can forward you their contact numbers.
