Norton have appointed 3 dealers including Thor Motorcycles in Bodmin on the Devon Cornwall border.being on holiday in the area I called in to have a look. The showroom is large and modern with 4 new Nortons on the showroom floor. Colin and his staff are extremely knowlegable on Norton 961 and also the earlier models, Colin having been selling parts and rebuilding old Nortons for many years.the location is on the outskirts of Bodmin and is accessed via some very narrow lanes, use your sat nav.

When I posted the original comment I forgot to mention that the workshops at Thor are extremely competent at servicing and repairing the new Nortons that are out of warranty.

Wait a minute... I do not get it!

Has the factory caught up with deliveries such that they are shipping units to the dealers' showrooms?

Is anyone still waiting for a delivery that has been on order for a long time?

Well, I was in there an hour ago, and he has 5 in the showroom; an SF, 2x Sports and 2x Cafe Racers, plus a road-registered Cafe Racer outside, which I took to be a demonstrator, although it may have been a customers bike.

My understanding is Thor orders bikes just like individual customers and wait for delivery and they then take the risk of them sitting in the showroom. It does suggest that if they have what you want in stock you can avoid a wait.

How about the Thor prices for these 961 bikes ? Would expect them higher than the ex-Norton direct ordered and on the waiting list routemost of us have gone down. I'd guess a trade off between instant availability and higher price which I'm sure a number of potential customerswill go for.
