Hi I looking for the correct size of the rear drive chain for my 1954 Norton 16h.
Cheers Kelvin.
Hello.
I have mostly got my 1951 ready to ride, but I am unsure of which tyres to put on it. It is rigid back end with long road holders. 19" front and rear wheels.
I've finished all the preparations I'm going to do to my Dommie, sorted the fitting/packing of my pannier bags and camping equipment.
Just been reading the review of the new Triumph Thruxton Bonneville R, In this country it costs £11,700, in the USA it costs $14500 that equates to £10,098 £1,602 cheaper.
I looked for torque figures for the Dominator, found some in my Haynes manual:
engine sprocket nut 80 lb
main engine plate nut 25 lb
I have a 1958 ES2 engine, and the rocker arm pads are in need of replacing, (see image) but I'm finding it difficult to track down any replacements.
The nearest I've found are these from RGM:
I have recently restored a 1954 ES 2 and made a rocker cover gasket from high temp gasket material. I now find that there is a substantial oil leak from the top of the pushrod tubes.
Well I eventually got it on the road today, ...very pleased with it and will write up a review and story when I get the time....Now I've got another two bikes awaiting the same treatment...Les
Can someone please give me advice on the timing of a 1930 model 18.
The bike is a real pig to start if at all.
Engine timed exactly.
Compression is great, inlet 0.006 exhauste 0.010
I got a phone call a couple of days ago from a guy in the VMCC (but not the NOC) who had just bought a 1959 Dominator that was playing up. Did I know anybody who would be able to remove the magneto for him to get it serviced?
Hi everyone finally tracked down a New mudguard for my norton 650ss 1966
having a slight issue with fitting bought this stay
At wits end here, installed new Andover 13mm m/c - & was not happy with the lever travel.
Hello I have an issue of a tight spot on my mag chain in my 16h, if the engine is turned over the chain has a nice bit of freeplay, but one spot is really tight. I have ordered a new chain, is this a common problem.
Took my pride and joy for a run from Cornwall to Bournemouth yesterday (via Windmill Garage, Honiton - E0!). Got as far as Bridport and was hit by a double whammy.
Having got my 63 m50 running better than ever I find that mpg is rather poor, only circa 50/53.
Is this normal? I am sure my old one did 70 or more.
Just bought a 1954 88 that was fitted with Avon tyres 25 years ago!
I see in the classifieds that there is an ES2 for sale at £15,000 and it is in India. Is this an optimistic valuation or maybe it was owned by a famous Maharajah?
Recently fitted Alton starter, but now find that the battery goes flat after about a week. Checked battery off machine new 12v18amp shows 12.8 on multimeter. which will then keeps charge on bench.
my 72 roadster came with tt100 replica,s but due to storage the sidewalls have some cracking, having chucked a few down the road when younger,(still feel all )what and where would be the best new compound to fit thanks guys
My Mk2a Commando has a 1975 registration and has now qualified for free road tax. As the V5 now states "historic vehicle" my understanding is that i can now legally use a black and silver number plate on the road.
I noticed that Burton Bike Bits is selling an Alloy clutch for the pre-commando twins, for a whole lot of money. I'm just curious why would anyone spring for that? Just for a little weight saving? For racing?......
Hi
Does anyone have a helicoil set for 2BA? Usually swap things like this with other branch members but nobody has one.
If not I will bite the bullet & put a set on the shelf.
Thanks Chris
I purchased short stanchions. The bike looks like leaning forward. It has 19" rims both front and rear
What should be the usual most common length for the stanchions on a 1953 Domi?
Can anyone help me identify these 35mm forks, came off an early 70,s bike, no makers name that I can see anywhere, I'm thinking Betor, Ceriani or metal profile ?
I just thought that I'd offer my recent experience with the infamous Norton death rattle encountered by other Norton twin owners and the topic of several posts on this site.
My 19S is now run in and I have started to ride it with gusto . Oil is now leaking (p***ing out) from the valve lifter shaft.
