Hi I looking for the correct size of the rear drive chain for my 1954 Norton 16h.

According to Bacon the rea…
According to Bacon the rear chain for a '54 16H is 5/8 x 1/4. The length is dependant on the sprocket sizes which according to Bacon should be gearbox - 19T and rear wheel - 43T. You can actually work out the theoretical length from that. hope this helps. George

Hi Kelvin - it's "Norton Singles" by Roy Bacon (Niton Publishing). Bought for me for Christmas by one of my lads. An excellent tome for checking for myself - and for others! Not only a good read but also a mine of info. George

If you seek out the people that sell chain at Stafford Show.....something like the chain gang I think they are called, contact them as they have books with all chain sizes for all bikes....nice people they will help you with number of links, size etc etc I am sure.
