16H brake shoes

Forums

Hi

Can anybody recommend a supplier for brake shoes for my 16H ex wd please?

Cheers

Do you mean complete shoes or to re-line existing ?

The shoes with the cutaway for the pre-war (16H type) speedo drive continued into the Commando period and most current pattern shoes include that on all of them. In fact, at the time, Norton supplied only one cutaway shoe for the front but all four can quite happily be of this type.

In my opinion, the currently available linings which have generally been developed for industrial braking applications are unlikely to match the feel and stopping power of the originals but although there is an exemption available to the EU asbestos rule where it relates to the possibility on complete vehicles, it is now illegal to sell parts containing asbestos.

Thanks Richard

I'm still in my early period of ownership.

So the norm is to have them relined?

I must admit the brakes at the moment are good so I'll just have to brake less from now on. I'm just running out of adjustment on the back brake.

Thanks again
