961 cheaper than old Commandos
There are currently 2 961 Commandos on eBay at about £10,000, who would have thought it?

I'm in the process of rebuilding a MK3 Commando and seem to have fell at the first hurdle! I had the wheels rebuilt by Central Wheels, who used new stainless spokes, and new rims and tyres with the original hubs.
What is the secret to removing this item it is not obvious.
Will it come out complete with bearing if heated.
Jim.
Hi,
can anyone recommend a decent quality make of classic motorcycle boots?
Does any one use one, and are they any good?

I have three 6v English bikes, including my ES2 and I like riding all of them. In order to ride to work in the winter months I have to ride at night and while the tail lights are mostly adequate the headlights leave much to be desired.
Good evening all!
I have just purchased a set of clutch centre rubbers from the club spares scheme.
Hi All,
Can anybody tell me what brand of magneto was used for a 1927 model 18.
Cheers
Andy
2 questions chaps. I`m trying to set the valve timing on a 1946 model 18, there are no timing marks so I`m starting from scratch.
I saw this rotary at â Donelsons cycles â in St Louis last year in America. A multi-franchise dealer, who has a mini museum at the showroom, Lots of NOS parts here to as they were a Norton dealer back in the day .
We recently received this mail: "I bought a full gasket set for an 850 Commando part no 06-5030 through the Norton Owners Club. The cylinder base gasket has failed at the driveside rear after a very low mileage(less than 2000 miles).
Hello, probably not important but, where would one position the hole on the intermediate spindle? top middle or bottom, too paraphrase the vernacular, I dont want any hot spots through poor oil flow, what is a hot spot?
There is a funky-looking slot-head grub-screw threaded into the lower timing-chest side of my crank case.
My sprocket nut on my 31 model 20 is being stubborn and refuses to come of.Even with it smoking hot it barley moves.
Before I cut it off does anyone sell a replacement. I've had no luck so far trying to find one.
Having almost completed the full re-build of my 1965 Jubilee I have had a severe set back. The only supplier (Norvil) listing a complete set of +40 pistons, rings and gugeon pins tells me that they are: "Having difficulty getting them."
I am pleased to report that I have finally received the featherbed centre stand from CBM and it is good quality. I would like to thank Kevin Bell who gave me a mobile number to contact them as without it I'm not sure what would have happened.
The early Commando rear light emits very little light and even with a led light board upgrade, it might consume less power but still isn't very bright.
Are the rocker arms on a 31 model 20 set on a taper shaft only or with a key?
Parts book shows what appears to be a taper rocker arm shaft with a key . The hand book gives no information on removal.
Hello everybody!
Can anybody tell me the exact lenght of the rear top shock absorber bolt
and tail stay for a Navigator?
No 23251 Position G42 in the frame diagram on page 35 in the 1961 parts list.
Thank you.
Hi all,
can anyone send in a photo of the Jubilee battery strap, with dimensions, or any info to help me build, or where to purchase this item? Norton part number is 21032 in the spares book.
All the best,
Will someone please let me know how the side stand spring is attached to the frame on a 500T. The parts supplement lists a spring loop pt. no. C186. A photo. would be ideal.
Thanks,
Rod
Does anyone know if the oil hole on the intermediate gear shaft (the one for the intermediate gear) should be at the top or the bottom when the shaft is re-inserted into the crankcase. I deglected to record its position when I removed it.
I assembled the timing gears on my 1965 Jubilee today but I need some reassurance!
I am restoring an engine dismantled by someone else so I have no reference for how the timing gears should align.
Someone's Norton build!

Anyone fitted one? thinking of something simple Loobman?. Would have to work on gearbox cog as a full chaincase fitted.
I have a 650ss, first registered March 1968 (according to the Norton records)with matching engine and frame number 123123.
What is the length of the gearbox mainshaft as applied to a 1953 Model 7, swing arm version? I'm doing up a 'box for a friend who lives some distance away and it would be nice to get it right first time around. Thanks, George.
