Having almost completed the full re-build of my 1965 Jubilee I have had a severe set back. The only supplier (Norvil) listing a complete set of +40 pistons, rings and gugeon pins tells me that they are: "Having difficulty getting them."
I can't see them in the NOC shop and I did an extensive search on the internet.
Does anyone know of a supplier?
Any other suggestions?
It seems a shame to have got this far to fall at the last hurdle.
Many thanks,
Dennis

Thanks but I forgot to mention that I asked Russell Motors about pistons when I ordered camshaft bushes from them.
They said they sold most of their stock to NOC!
I never considered re-sleeving the barrels. Good idea. I'll price that up against some good second hand barrels.

Interesting. However, I am going down the cylinder liner route and may have a source. I'll post a reply when I have some news.

Well what a journey! Russell Motors thought they had some new old stock barrels but I had to wait a while for them to confirm. They have some but unfortunately they could not confirm that they were correct and wanted a tidy sum.
Getting a bit creative, I have purchased standard pistons from the NOC shop, a new left hand barrel and a cylinder liner. A company in Cambridge, Meridian Engine Services, assure me that they can reline my right hand barrel.
If the plan comes together, I should be OK.
I'll let you know how I get on.
On a different topic, for attaching a timing disc, the repair manual glibly suggests using a four inch long half-inch BSF bolt. Well I did not have one 'lying around' so I bought some threaded bar on-line. What a monster half-inch BSF is!

Hi Dennis, What repair man…
Hi Dennis,
What repair manual have you got? The Norton Maintenance Manual doesn't mention anything about a 4" bolt - at least the one I have doesn't. I would agree with Dan but if you have got a threaded bar I suppose you can use what best suits.

The one I have is by Norton Motors Ltd and is titled Maintenance Manual & Instruction Book for the unapproachable Norton Jubilee 250, 1959 - 63 & Navigator, 1961-63. Publication 105.
Price: Three Shillings and Six Pence.

Nice, but I needed +40 oversize and I could not find them so I am going back to standard (no oversize) by using the only new barrel I could find and re-sleeving the other. At least that is the plan.

I got the repair manual for 'Norton Twins' as a free pdf download (I couldn't afford "three and six"
). It might even have been from the NOC site, I can't remember. It has proved quite good so far for the engine but lacks details on tin ware and body work in general, hence many of my questions on the message board.

Dennis,

I got NOS cylinder heads from them.
They have a huge inventory of Norton spares.
( we emptied the factory...)
Other solutions is some cylinder sleeves and go back to standard diameter..
