In the Tech Digest, suggested improvements to the front brake list an article in Norton News 65, page 20. Is this information available? Also I have seen reference to the use of a"hot needle" to puncture a seal in the master cylinder.
After pulling the head off ,the first thing i noticed was the 2 different sizes of valves.
The intake is still original at stem length 4" stem dia 3/8 . Head dia 1.85 and the valve has sunk into the head a bit. so new seat required.

I have discovered that the 4 long studs coming out of the crankcase's are oversized, they are 7/16" dia, not 3/8".

I recently bought a 1970 roadster which needs a lot of work to get back on the road. To speed things up and as the engine needs a complete rebuild.
just wondering. as they made Nortons capable of pulling a side car plus passengers / luggage. how is it that they didn't seem to make heavy duty clutches and uprated more powerfull brakes for those bikes as an option.

The jetting seems to be as per the book - apart from the float level.
Whilst looking for something else, I have found a part from a 650ss that I sold in 1973. I believe that the current owner may be a member but am not sure if it is appropriate to include the Registration number on here.
Looking for the bolt with wedge that locks in the headset to the front neck , I do have wedge spacer that goes on opposite side. Thanks Guy

I thought some of you may be interested in viewing a few photos of my low cost front and rear brake upgrade. Many have carried out similar modifications before, nothing brand new here, just my approach to a well known problem.
Here's one to ponder over xmas. I'm trying to remove the stator. Ive disconnected the bullet connectors in fact I had to cut them off . The connectors had probably not been removed in 47 years.

Has anyone got a clear pic of the above in situ they could post here please. Along with its component parts it wasn't with the bike when I bought it. Have looked on-line but I couldn't find any clear decent pics.
My MK3 had the electric starter missing when I bought it, along with all the relevant parts so I'm replacing everything. I bought one of the small mini starters plus heavy-duty cables. I also have the Boyer MK4 fitted as part of the upgrade.
