I have a 650ss, first registered March 1968 (according to the Norton records)with matching engine and frame number 123123. Recently I removed the cylinder head for work and found that the Barrels were the spigot type which, according to records changed to spigot-less type in about 1966. I can only assume that these were old stock which they were trying to use towards the end of the production life of the 650ss however I was wondering if anybody else had additional information.

I would consider myself lucky to have the spigoted system which Norton (rather than AMC) thought were an advantage.
