Laydown gearbox

Forums

As the kickstart lever on my 1956 Dominator 99 tends to stick at about 15 deg from it's top position, I have removed the outer cover with the intention to replace the kickstart return spring.

Dominator 99 gear box

Forums

The gear box number stamped on my 1956 Dominator 99 is GB8 3797 and is I understand of the ' laydown " type with the oval inspection cover. I am just curious as to the suffix GB8. Does it relate to anything in particular ?

Gearbox Bearings

Forums

Hi

1952 Dominator 7 Plunger.  I’m rebuilding the gearbox which has GT 100 YAF cast on the outer.  On the parts list I have, it says the mainshaft RH bearing and the layshaft LH bearing are the same - A2/321

Was it you?

I met a very nice guy at the Carol Nash show today who knew me from my posts on this Forum. He was displaying a 1955 ES2. Unfortunately I've now forgotten his name. Please put me out of my misery!!

Kickstart return spring

Forums

As the kickstart lever on my 1955 Dominator 99 does not fully return to it's top position after cranking the engine , I am suspecting that the return spring is passed it's sell by date. I note that there are two types of spring.

Smiths speedometer

I'm servicing the speedo on my 77 mkIII commando on which the mileometer and odometer have never worked. Does anyone know where or if I can source these items complete. The counters are seized on the rails and distorted, maybe sunlight and time.
