Is the rear wheel bearing lock ring (also speedo gearbox drive) really a left hand thread?
Mine won't come out either way, and I don't want to get too rough with it until I know.
I was rummaging around the Telford autojumble on Saturday and came across a pair of NOS early jubilee forks, the ones with the welded on headlight ears, they were maroon so I guess originally James parts but the same never the less.

Have read the Top end disaster thread. My -68 650SS camshaft looks good and measures about the same as David mentioned. I've understood that the flat tappets are correct. Tappets a bit worn on the flats.Measured the "ditch" to less than one thou.
In case anyone is interested here's a part I made for my neighbor's XS650. The header pipes exits too close to the chain to use the aftermarket mufflers he has.

After a contretemps with the bike on it's lift I now have to have the dent knocked out of the tank and the whole thing re-sprayed and lined (black/red striping).

On my 1937 16H the RHS fuel tap is 'HexagOn' type but LHS has a flat lever type, which is not properly sealing closed. If I renew it, I might as well copy the original. Were they both HexagOn taps when new or was reserve side different?

Can anyone tell me the spec of the screws that go through the timing side, through the triangular plate and into the Dynamo body? There seem to be 2 screws and the other is maybe a rod with a nut inside the Dynamo?

Restoring my '67 650SS and struggling to identify the correct headlamp - I think the bike is currently non-standard (see photo).
I'm restoring a -68 650SS that has been sleeping for some 25 years. I think the ignition is same as early Commandos placed on the rear of the engine. If I'm forced to replace it with a electronic ignition, what should I use?
